Should I read the side story’s cuz I see the main story ends around 823

Zigavr:the main theme of this book is the scientific method, endless rigorous exploration, that's why even though he had a chance to become a true God, he didn't take it. He didnt want to become something he didn't understand, he only became a demigod when he felt he understood how it worked, in opposition to the power hungry pope who based his power on an incomplete understanign that ancient science gave him (think the pyramid conspiracies of our world). the book ends on a hopeful note, a message that there will forever be higher forces we do not understand(true Godhood), but with rigour and time, every obstacle will be researched and understood. Having him achieve godhood would deprive the ending of this symbolism and would, in my opinion, make it much worse.(since you haven't finished it, I hope I succeeded in not spoiling anything while getting my point accross)

I read it up to 852 and as I remember them, the short stories were good fun, nothing new or plot relevant happens, but they were good turn off your brain fun. After 852 there's a whole arc about how the floating city was established that I never got around to reading, so I can't in good faith recommend it, but I'd guess it goes into the history of calculus and the scientific revolution, so if that sounds interesting to you, then give it a go
