That's the point of those paragraphs. Damian was able to get those reactions from them despite who they are. Also Damian was raised to be an assassin. His killing intent is not something that even Superman could disregard. Besides, did you miss the part where he appeared behind them without anyone noticing? even superman with his senses couldn't sense him entering.

the real culprit is irrelevant. all that matters is that people got hurt and Batman could have prevented that. Batman goes way beyond just sparing criminals. fuck, there were many times he saved them and even protected them .

Honestly, it’s something I’ve thought a lot about, and the slower flow is very intentional on my part. Rather than just pushing the story forward, which would honestly be much easier and faster, I try to give each scene my full attention and focus on capturing all the details, emotions, and atmosphere. It’s not an easy process, it takes a lot of time, especially during editing, but I really want each moment to feel fully realized and immersive for the reader. That’s why I’m so glad to hear you’re enjoying the level of detail and how it flows with the story despite the slower pace! It’s incredibly encouraging to know that the effort I put into the smaller moments is appreciated. Thank you again for taking the time to comment, it truly means a lot to me!
