Twisted System

[Welcome Candidate, to the System.] David thought he had come across the artifact that would help him save everyone. He was wrong. [User Safety Measure Activated.] 'STOP. NOW!' David screamed inside of his head, he had never felt more helpless, he had come back to help, but now, he was being stopped once again. [I must preserve the Candidate's life. The current situation would be fatal] 'You! There's something wrong twisted with you! This is my life! Not some story you can manipulate as you wish!' Instead, the system forced him to watch the death of one of his loved ones, and all excused as a Backstory Event. It has been 500 years since the day the world ended. Gods, demons, monster and mutants now roam the earth. Ancient legends have resurfaced, and magic has replaced technology. Humanity has gone from the rulers of earth to the bottom of the food chain. Amidst this chaos, our protagonist David collides with a god's lost project, a system. But this system doesn't behave like your usual system, it pushes David where it wants, and he may just be losing more than he gains from it. --- Please leave any and all feedback, I'm writing to improve.
