I spent a bunch of coins on this book because it hooked me in at the start. But like many of the other reviews I saw, the tropes and story arcs get super repetitive past chapter 200. Shi Jin encounters a bad situation, remembers something from her past life, uses her golden finger, gets over the situation. Whether it's song-writing, singing, beauty of appearance, studies, TCM... It's a bit too much. Rebirth doesn't mean you get endowed all these special skills - especially when Shi Jin was a supposed idiot who cared mainly about her crush on Chu Ling. Beyond the golden finger trope, her relationship with Fu Xiuyuan borders on toxic and stockholm syndrome. I'm not sure if I'm the only one, but the fact that the writer states he has bipolar disorder at the start rubs me the wrong way. Sure, it makes for some cute moments, but jealousy that leads to breaking things or starving oneself ain't cute. It's weird that Shi Jin is a placeholder for Fu Xiuyuan to "recover" from his supposed psychotic breakdowns. I get that love and support can help, but the way this story develops the relationship leaves a lot to be desired. I shall be dropping this novel after this review.
