Because of his incomplete mana core, he couldn't initiate strong magic or spells. Most likely he was a T2 mage. And also why he never thought of learning Sword arts was because of his pride but he did learn the basics when he was in the war because he had no other choice.

Thank you for taking the time to read and review the story. I realise my mistake and now your review too made me realise how much I have to improve as well. But I don't want to give up on this story, so I will just improve and correct my mistakes in the coming chapters and meet the expectations. Yes he never read this book because he was not a mage and gave up of being a mage until he met her (Naomi). And then for next 3-4 yrs, She mentored him and then he became a mage.
