maybe, but not likely. the problem is that cooking the bones (depending on the animal they come from) makes them easily splinter into shards, which can damage the intestines. Uncooked bones would be fine.
for prying open cell bars. using cloth and a metal rebar, the leverage of twisting the rebar is enough to cause 2 bars to bend towards each other. I am guessing the wetness decreases the chance of the cloth tearing.

I agree, but this takes place in the modern world already. I am fine with isikai or whatever when it helps the story, but not when it's a throw-away checkbox mentioned once and never brought up again. Battle Through the Heavens is an example of this, where it's mentioned in chapter 1, then never again (including never using modern references).
