Malazan Book of the Fallen does something similar with poems and quotes relevant to the story at the start of each chapter. I think the Fifth Season also does this. Never seen quotes from the MCs future self before though.

I think it was probably since he whispered in his ear while slowing down time. Sound waves moved way faster than they should have and blew up his dad’s brain.
The only question she wants answered now, was how. What kind of skills and System does Van have for him to be able to turn a person's brain into a mush. Considering that he was most probably just level 1, it was worth looking into.
