so basically in the harry potter world you can use magic only externally. so what this ring does it makes it so it can be cast internally, but its not that op as he can only choose one spell per jewel. So he has to find them himself which is pretty hard and interesting as he has to fight alot and kill people for them. but thats not the only draw of the series. the people in the story are actually smart. they dont do stuff, do to stuff. all of their actions have plots under them
