It should've had limitation, like "You can only equip this item after reaching level 50" and "You need to this minimum stat points to properly equip this item Strength: 75, Vitality ;50" it gives tension and importance to the stat points instead of being just there as a feature or design.

Take more time to flesh out the rules of your world, I also recommend drawwing a map (It doesn't need to be great) so you can better understand the locations. Like, if Blackwater is in the eastern continent, you may forget this detail a hundred chapters from now so its better to have a pre-drawn map.
