yea, but like, he's a dragon. I guess I'm not getting the the powerscaling. (Also haven't read this story in a while.) Everyone keeps acting like the king is the end all be all of power. Noone can go against him. But said king still relies on the dragon to keep enemies at bay. and said dragon is supposed to be crazy strong. so I'm confused about the actual details of how a human king can force a dragon to do anything. a dragon, in a highly defensible fortress, with a trained army that can't really be defeated because it would weaken the overall border defenses. so is the king some kind of powerful being, a demon, a monster? or is the dragon weaker than expected or can't hold the form for long enough? we already seen that dragon fire is no joke. so how is anyone standing against it? and being the ruler doesn't guarantee safety. betrayal and all that stuff can happen. but the simple threat of, "If you are nice, I will defend your kingdoms borders, if you are mean, I will leave and not help" sounds pretty good. unless they have a dragon alternative.... so is the king just stupid? idk, supernatural monsters respecting mortal authority because of human moral implications just feels weird. especially when the dragons problems are flamable.
The king would track them down. Someday her power would make itself known, and word would spread just like it had done at the fortress. There was no way to run from this. how long are we going to have to deal with this weir 'friendship'? It feels like those stories where the author is trying to brag about how morally superior their MC is because they didn't boink the little girl when they were reincarnated as kid. Except, in this case, the MC is an adult in a kids body, and the girl is an adult in an adult body who is an actual adult. and they both know about each others ages... so it's just weird. flaunting their slowness is strange.
