It's especially incomprehensible how the main character was late to Aubrey and Scout, while he went straight to them, but at the same time Leska was in time for Zula and Zula was in time for Aubrey and Scout..... Complete nonsense.

Overall, the story was good, up to a point, namely chapter 45. Most disappointing is that the author succumbed to the influence of the crowd and just shifted the responsibility for some decisions to the readers.

Can't you, the author, think with your own head? Instead of shifting responsibility for the development of the story to the commentators.
