I personally recommend listening to “die with a smile” for this chapter and the next.
I take back what i said, apparently they aren’t tanned but it seems like they are a different race in the next chapter.
It’s not so much racist as it is classist. White/pale skin for light skinned races (not sure about darker skinned races) has almost always been a symbol of wealth/nobility and tan/darkened skin was seen as the lower working class due to them working outdoors.
Translation is horrible with realms being very inconsistent.
A lot of Chinese words have several different meanings, you’ll see this with gendered words(uncle/aunt) and other words like magic sword and demon sword. It’s especially difficult for AI/machine translation since it requires context to know the correct translation to use. “He sells pie.” And “She sells pie.” Are both “Tā mài xiàn bǐng.”
This time skip was a month. There was a two month skip before his cousin got locked up and that makes a total of three months for practice time.
Breathing is an involuntary action, meaning any halting/alteration of breathing with the exception of external stimuli such as an allergic reaction, choking, death, etc. is a voluntary action.

People like this are the reason other people get unexpectedly stabbed. Like tell me who my enemies are so i can at least be prepared. He could meet some character that’s super friendly, but because he doesn’t know that’s one of the people who want him dead, he ends up getting stabbed in the waist. You can’t be on guard against everyone all the time. Knowing who your enemies are can help you figure out if you’re talking to someone you can trust.
It seems that foundation establishment is the first realm in this novel. I typically don’t like when people mess with the cultivation realm order without being original, but this is barely acceptable since it’s “foundation” and thus logically the first thing to be done if you’ve never read cultivation novels before.
