How is this dumb? Goblins are famously sharp with money and would not lose it? Haven’t read the story but I don’t follow your argument. The muggle side IS odd and out, though, as Goblins don’t care for muggle money in the story iirc. But they DO care about world domination, so through that lens going full Private Equity overlords checks out. Given that goblins in HP are thinly-veiled and pretty racist references to Jews, why not let them invest and fufull the stereotype?
