Spoiler obviously but Vandalieu is only as OP as he is due to being a reincarnated fragment of a bunch of heroes souls fused with an eldritch god's soul granting him a bunch of unique perks as well as making him an absolute roach to kill. (that god kept trying to make death stick to him to no avail) If he wanted to get OP and unkillable ASAP then popping over to Tensura and copying Great Sage and evolving that would be the best route as it eventually synergises with copying, modifying and gifting powers. Otherwise if he wasn't in such a rush popping to one of Er Gen's pre-propaganda novels for a cultivation technique would be the best, all those MC's can create and destroy universes at a thought by the end, granted some can also sit around for literal epochs in deep sleep.
How? The only answer that I can come with is the fact that there's no such thing as a perfect defense.
