That logic doesn't stick, when you consider that the message scrolls find their way to the recipients without problems. Sure, I bet there is counter-ops trying to capture as much of those messages as possible but you could send small amounts just as easily so the 'lost' supplies wouldn't be too much. And they are ninja. Even with how crappy ninja the 'Shinobi' of Naruto are, practicality should still win. Meaning as long as the supplies arrive it is fine.

Oh definitely, because crows tell him what they see: and there was crows watching the battle. But morale is important and it would 'stain' the achievement of "Upper Moon Slayer" if he would say "too bad that you had to give up on villager lives to save Kanae." and that is not even the worst way to say it :P
