True it is business but he didn’t have to shortchange her especially since she didn’t try to pull one like the other owner and the rat infestation.

It is gonna end up with him killing him. Did he wear gloves? His fingerprint would be all over the place

Making a big deal out of it, it is not like he killed your family. Jeeze

I mean it depends on how far we go back. Also his family being poor or ordinary doesn’t mean anything. He honestly gives me Dexter vibes or the guy from American Psycho. His family and relatives could all be normal but something might just be wrong with the guy. He might have a mental disorder or be a high functioning psychopath. Though since he feels attachment for some people that might not be the case. He just might be on the autism spectrum or be a savant for all we know. Him not making the most heroic choices when given better option was a clear hint from the author that this wasn’t just a nice goody two shoes guy, who is fine after wearing a green hat. His abrupt acceptance of the system and his situation could also now be explained by his past of being a real life edge lord. This definitely went up a notch from just a typical wish fulfilment novel to something deeper with those choices. All the initial choices seemed to point to a guy who becomes cool after being a loser for no reason, but if his history is not normal then it might explain everything.
