6 Faceless

He had goosebumps and hair stood up like needles on his arm, as soon as Dylan heard the voice. "Now-why-don't-you-come-back-to-bed and sleep my silly boyfriend." The voice was heard, resonating close by.

"What are you doing, staring at the door in the middle of the night?" Upon witnessing Dylan so scared and slightly stammering, Helen started to ask him questions.

"Huh? It-its you?" Dylan replied back with a shaky tone as he wiped away the cold sweat beads from his forehead.

"Haha, who else is here, you scaredy cat!" Helen giggled, totally unaware of his condition.

"Did-wh-why did you cry?"

"Cry? I just woke up while you are staring at the door."

Dylan became confused with her answer. 'So she is the one who spoke, but who was the one that cry?' His head was clouded with these thoughts as he walked back towards his bed.

"Look at you breathing so heavily, come here and sleep." Helen suggested as she rolled her eyes.

They both drifted to sleep and another hour passed.

Dylan was not able to sleep with all the thoughts rammed up his head but after endless trials, when he was about to pass into his sleep, a husky and tired voice echoed. "Don't pull my hand babe, let me sleep peacefully." Helen spoke while she was half sleeping facing away from Dylan.

'Huh? Pu-pull the hand? But!'

*Drop*

A water droplet fell on his cheek, Dylan wiped it off with his fingers. His heart dropped as soon as he saw pus on his fingers. His heart raced and breath became uneven, Dylan slowly looked up to see what horror was waiting for him.

There was nothing, the ceiling was lonely. He gulped and felt relief, he tilted his head down, grabbed a paper from the book which was near the lamp and wiped off the liquid on his fingers.

He got down off his bed to throw the paper inside the trash can. But suddenly he felt as something grabbed his right foot as soon as it touched down.

"Ahhhhhh!" He immediately retracted his leg above the bed. His breathing increased rapidly, thumping of his heart could be heard throughout the quiet room like the beating of the doomsday drum.

He licked and wet his lips, gulped and leaned forward to see what had touched his feet.

It was a rubber mat laying down on the floor as one of the corners of it is rolled upwards due to it being in the folded state till now.

'Helen must have placed it here after taking her dress off the ground. Why am I getting scared of small things? I'm a doctor, I shouldn't and I don't believe in ghosts.' He calmed his breathing, assuring himself and threw the piece of paper towards the trash can. 'I will pick it up tomorrow.' He leaned back after he said and pulled the the blanket on his body.

'Ah! I should read something and distract myself off these scary thoughts, so I could fall asleep.' He thought and grabbed the book from the table beside his bed.

He pushed himself to the top of the bed while leaning his back onto the bed post and started to read the book.

He suddenly felt a weight on his thighs as if somebody landed. It bothered him in the back of his head but he tried go invest himself in the book that he ignored it.

Soon giggles of a baby could be heard. His ears pricked up and his eyeballs raised up at the sudden sound, which made Dylan shiver a little and a cold snaked chill crept into his body.

The book had covered his face, blocking the view before him. Dylan suddenly felt movement in his lap which made him gulp.

He got more nervous and he felt the blood rushing into his head, his ears and face became hot.

'wh-what the fuck is that!' he moved the book off his sight slowly.

His gaze caught tiny feet of a baby kicking her legs in the air while giggling. They were covered in blood and pus. The skin of the baby was blue as if he was put in a freezer, the pus was leaking at parts with blood.

The sight immediately caused a puking feeling to Dylan. His eyes were widened and his chest kept thumping without a rest.

He moved the book in order to get the full view in front of him.

He immediately stretched his hands beside him on both sides and was frozen after ebbing.

It was the same baby he took out from Amber's stomach. It's skin had corroded as the pus was flowing out from the body from multiple places.

Its gut was torn open in a circular path, it had no eyes and no nasal bone, or teeth, or jaw, just cheeks and forehead with pus flowing down from it's forehead into the dark void in it's mouth.

The baby was 'smiling' and stretching arms towards Dylan as a way of asking him to hold her. Dylan was terrorized, he wanted to call Helen but his voice was not coming up. 'W-what happened? Why can't I talk or speak? Helen! Please turn towards me, helen! What is happening here?' He thought he couldn't call her as no voice seemed to come out of his trachea and so he slipped his left shaky hand, stretching it all the way to Helen and tapped on her shoulder to wake her up.

Helen did not even wake up and Dylan had his stare towards the baby, Suddenly pus mixed with blood and started to spread out of the baby onto his blanket. The pus filled his lap and started crawling it's way, pinching into his skin.

He tapped Helen's shoulder fast as to wake her up. "Ah! I told you not to pull my hand." Helen replied in her sleep as if her ears were muffled towards his voice.

A strange sound emitted from the baby all of a sudden.

It turned its head towards Dylan but it made a disturbing sound like of a frozen body moving forcefully. Dylan just kept staring at the baby and tears started to roll out of his eyes in fright.

*ARRRGHHHHHHHHHH* Screams of Dylan and the baby were heard at the same time, the baby suddenly reached in the face of Dylan. Its cheeks spread wide and fluttered as a never heard scream groaned out of its mouth right in front of his face.

He could see that the baby just have sockets and pus is flowing inside its hoods. He was more than scared and panicked in that helpless situation.
