No Wonder

Claire continued struggling her way through the week but she noticed that Alex seemed every bit as tired as she did on the rare occasions she saw him. He and Ethan both. It seemed that the latter had caught some sort of bug from kids at school and passed it onto the person he saw the most. 

It seemed that neither of them had ever gotten sick before—probably because they weren't out of headquarters all that often during cold and flu season—and they weren't used to it at all. She wished she could take care of them but couldn't since she wasn't home. 

Once Alex realized he was sick he specifically told Claire to stay away because he didn't want her to catch it. He knew as well as she did that she was barely hanging on by a thread and couldn't afford to get sick right now on top of everything else. 

That was incredibly selfless of him but she felt so bad! If she could, she would totally nurse them both back to health but she didn't have a minute to spare.
