Wasting Money to Become an Immortal

"You died."

That was the first thing that I heard when I opened my eyes in this world of pure white.

The second thing that happened was…

Hearing this, I just said with a shrug, "It's true, it's my job as a dutiful son to help my parents spend their money."

The figure of light couldn't help shaking its head when it heard this since it had never met someone this shameless before.

But in the end, it still said, "Though you were a wastrel and a prodigal, you were a kind person. Even if you wasted your parents' money, you did it with kind intentions. You helped those that couldn't afford education, you saved animals that were abandoned in the street, and you did many other kind things for others that benefited society."

When the figure of light put it so bluntly, I couldn't help feeling embarrassed.

The figure of light gave another chuckle before saying, "The heavens will reward those that deserve it. Since you showed a level of kindness that reaches a level that is rarely seen, the heavens have decided to reward you for all the kindness that you have shown. You will be reincarnated in another world and you will receive a system that will help you survive in that world."

Now that some time had passed and I was able to calm down, the gravity of the situation slowly sank in.

After a long silence, I slowly said, "I'm really dead, aren't I?"

The figure of light just gave a slow nod in response.

After another silence, I asked, "My parents? How did they take the news?"

The figure of light gave a sigh before saying, "As any parents who love their child would…" There was a pause before it said, "Do you really want to know what happened?"

I slowly shook my head in the end since I could already guess…

It seemed that I really couldn't be filial in this life…no, in my past life…

If there was another chance…I would want to do my best to make it up to my parents.

Seeing the look on my face, the figure of light respectfully remained silent for a bit.

"Memories?" I said in a surprised voice before following with, "I'm not being reborn as a baby? I'm being put in a new body?"

The figure of light nodded before raising its hand to point at my forehead.

In an instant, there were a bunch of memories that suddenly filled my brain.

When it was all over and I had sorted them out, I couldn't help…swearing.

"Damn! This is my new identity!" I looked up at the figure of light and said, "Is there some kind of mistake here?"

The figure of light didn't answer me as it said, "It's time for you to depart on your new life. I wish you the best of luck."

"Hey! Don't you ignore me!"

Though I said this, it didn't matter since my vision was suddenly turning into light.

This light became stronger and stronger until I couldn't see anything anymore.

When he disappeared from this space, the figure of light gave a sigh and said, "Perhaps this is our only hope."

Then the figure of light disappeared as well.
