chapter 3o

His full lips held no hint of a smile, and his tall frame nearly consumed by my eyes.

He wore black pants with a black suit jacket, and his white shirt was open at the collar. No tie. I stared incessantly at him and admired his handsomeness. He looked like he was one of Disney's Princes. The closer he got to me, the taller his six feet four inches looked.

He stared for a moment before uttering a word.

"How much do you need?" I blinked, jerking my head.

"Sorry?" I said. I didn't understand what he was saying. I wanted saying something but I hesitated, feeling my stomach tighten.

"I said how much do you need? so you can leave and not press charges against me."

I still didn't know what to say but he continued.

"I know you're type. cheap ladies who cling to rich men, or fake an accident just to get their attention. Just mention any amount and I'll give it to you."

I stared at him. anger building in my chest. what the hell did he mean?

I felt a sort of anger I haven't feel in a very long time.

"Why do you think everyone is like you?" I didn't want to shout or give him the slightest idea that what he said had gotten to me.

"Just because you'll do the same doesn't mean I will. who the hell do you even think you are to speak to me that ghastly manner?" My stomach flipped, and I couldn't breath properly.

"You know my type right? well I know yours well enough." my heart started to pound so hard it hurt.

I lowered my head and looked up again, seeing his black hair styled to look like he should be on the cover of a magazine, and his hazel eyes, that looked like a cider with flecks of spice.

"Don't waste my time please. tell him how much you want and I'll give it to you." I still couldn't believe this was happening. How can a person be so egotistical and full of himself.

"well," he annoyingly continued. "since you don't want to mention your price, this is a check of four hundred thousand naira. it'll be enough to take care of your self." He handed me the check and I stared at the check then at him.

I accepted the check and shred it into pieces and threw it at his face.

His starting to really piss me off, who the hell does he think he is?

"I really don't know what your feeling but I'd rather accept anything from a mad man than from you. I don't care who the hell you think you are, or what you think you have but I'll rate a dog ahead of you." I forced deep breaths, trying to calm down.

"You want to give me money right?" i stopped for second before I continued. "if I were you I'd use that money to buy something called humility because I don't think you any. But I don't think they sale that in the market, maybe you should try the supermarket. Nah I don't think they sell that either."

He narrowed his eyes and nudged his shoulders as if he wanted to say something but held back his words and kept starring.

"That's one thing with you reach people, you don't take peoples feelings into consideration. You just say or do what you feel like, regardless of if it hurts the other person or not."

I let out a sigh and averted my eyes, sick of starring at him. He rolled his eyes, shaking his head at me.

"Thanks for your hospitality." I jogged up the stairs. I could feel him still looking at me as I left. it took some minutes before I could find my way back to the room because the house was awfully huge.

I carried my shoes. I felt I slight pain under my foot but I ignored. I jogged down the stairs and reached for the front door but before I could open it, a voice called me back.

I turned to see an elderly lady, not to old dressed lavishly and standing straight looking up at me. My heart pounded for a moment.

"Are you leaving already?" I sighed, a defeated look crossing my face. I wonder if she's also like that arrogant fellow I met just now.

I grinned, my nerves immediately relaxing.

I stared at her, not knowing what to tell her.

"Sorry. I should introduce my self first. my is Mrs Juliet onuigbo. you had a little accident today with my son, so he brought you here." I wonder why he didn't take me to the hospital. He had to bring me here to insult me.

I still didn't utter a word. I just stood there like a statue glaring at her.

"Erica," I said aloud.

"my name is Erica James igalo. I immediately kept quite.

"Well Erica," she continued. she seem nice and well spoken. "we're honoured to have you here." I kept starring at her. she looks too beautiful for her age. I bet she must be in her early fifties.

The clock on the wall was singing and I immediately turned. to my surprise it was already six pm. my mother would kill me.

"Do you mind having dinner with us?" she asked me with my eyes still on the walls.

"Maybe next time. I haven't been home, not since morning. my parents must be worried about me." she looked disappointed but gave me a very cheerful smile.

"Alright, the driver would take you home." I couldn't refuse her and as it is, I was already late. I passed my curfew. I might be twenty four but my parents still treat me like a teenager.

"Thank you so much ma'am. I'll be on my now."

dashing into the car, the driver drove and Michael's thought immediately kept coming. I didn't know I was crying, not until the driver asked me if I was okay. I immediately wiped my tears away and replied.

We reached my house and before I could step out of the car the driver stopped me and handed me Small red bag with glitter all over. He said he was asked to give it to me by his boss, but drove away after I stepped out. I couldn't ask him who it was. I'm sure it couldn't be that arrogant annoying man.
