Dinner

Alayna and I both ordered jasmine tea, and we were looking at menus when suddenly a man behind us stood up very quickly. He seemed to be in a rush to get somewhere, and as he passed our table he paused for just a moment before rushing out. He was very handsome, and yet he looked familiar, but I couldn't place it. I must have looked confused, because Alayna gave me a look.

"What?" I said, confused.

"That was Kendra's uncle," she said. "I told you, her uncles are gorgeous."

"Oh! That's where I know him from! He sent me a friend request on Facebook." I remember now. The weird profile with just one picture. And no other friends.

"Oh. My. God." Alayna said, enunciating each word. "You have to accept it. I didn't even know he had an account! I've only seen his brother on there. What are you doing? Get out your phone and accept it right now!"

"Okay, okay," I said, getting my phone out of my purse. "Just so you know, it kind of looked like a fake account, but I'll accept it anyway just to appease you."

Before I could accept it, however, Alayna reached for my phone, accepted his request, and started typing.

"What are you doing??" I whispered angrily at her.

"I typed him a message, just in case the account is fake," she said with a smug look on her face. She passed me back my phone. I looked at what she typed.

'Hey, were you just at D Cuisine?' the message said.

"Oh my god," I looked back at Alayna. "I can't believe you. Even if he is hot, I'm not gonna date one of my classmate's uncles!"

"Don't worry about it," Alayna rolled her eyes at me. "Kendra explained it to me one time, they are related, but they're barely related, you know? Like, the sixth cousin twice removed or something like that. Besides, she told me they rarely see each other except for special events and whatnot."

"Still…" I said, "He's a little too old for me."

"Let's google it. He's like, third tier famous. They own a big company, they probably have information on the internet," she looked up 'Roman O'Haire age' on her phone, but it seemed like no results popped up. "That's frustrating." The waiter came back and dropped our drinks off.

"Are we ready to order?" he said.

"Of course," I said, "I'll have the dim sum, and can we get an order of dumplings to share?"

"I'll take the char siu with rice," Alayna said. The waiter nodded, wrote down our order and left.

"I'm so excited to try the food here," she said. I knew she would be. Oriental foods were our way of bonding. It would probably be a problem if I didn't have such a high metabolism.

We stuffed ourselves with great food, I paid, and Alayna drove me home. I got into comfy sweats and turned on my computer to watch a movie while getting ready for bed. When I finally picked one, my phone dinged. One new message from Roman O'Haire.
