Upon the Edge of heaven

Mongolia used to conquer half of the world back in the 13th century under the rule of Genghis Khan. Swimming in mountain of gold and oceans of wine, pillaging villages from East China to Austria, and riding horses at the vast steppe of Manchuria. What a joy for a man.

However, now Mongolia has become a corrupt state with limited capita per income for its citizens. You may say that the environment is healthy but at the capital city of Ulaanbaatar, atop the monument Zaisan Tolgoi in the southern point of the city, people can see the entire city with a panoramic view and carry the admiration towards the great smoke and dust that was created by 300,000 Ger (Traditional Mongolian Yurt) by burning coal and wood.

This year's March has become comparatively colder than the previous years', due to the late arrival of winter. But today the strong wind from the east has taken the fog away and atop the monument Zaisan Tolgoi, a 24-year-old man has just heard the exciting news of him becoming a father.

He was an excellent young man, wearing an eyeglass and a red Canada Goose jacket. His skin is somewhat brown, but upon seeing his dark eyes, you can see his determination and spark of ambition.

"Finally, I am becoming a father" Smiled and looking into the vast open sky, he took a deep breath and thinking about the near future, how to become the best husband and father, how to take care of the baby, and many other thoughts were swimming in his head.

"Oh, almost forgot about the meeting. I have to hurry up to the office." Tselmeg checked his cheap wristwatch and hurried to his office beneath the monument.

Tselmeg works at Premium Concrete, a supplier of concrete mixes as a project officer, after his graduation as a civil engineer major in Mongolia.

It took only few minutes to his office and upon arriving at the entrance of the office building, he dialed to his girlfriend's cellphone.

"Good afternoon~, darling how are you feeling, It seems pretty windy today, if you have any work today outside, don't forget your scarf" Tselmeg, smiled and seemed like the happiest man in the world.

"I hope that you remember our appointment today at 6.00 PM at the 4D ultrasound doctor, to see the fetus." a charming, and warm voice could be heard replying to Tselmeg. As you can hear the voice, her love could be felt towards Tselmeg.

"Yes, of course, I would leave my office prior to the working hours, and be ready at the hospital by 5.45 PM" darling.

During his conversation, the elevator has just arrived and during this hour, usually many people use the elevator during lunchtime, strangely it was only Tselmeg took the elevator to enter his office.

"Darling, I am entering the elevator, the network coverage may be weak, I will call you soon. I love you." Tselmeg said enthusiastically and sincerely to his future wife.

"Take care, and luck for your job my love, see you soon" His girlfriend imitated the sound of kissing behind the cellphone as they hang up the phone.

When Tselmeg pressed the 11th Floor button and was listening to the music of the elevator, he felt the feeling of acceleration upwards, and a slight butterfly in the stomach. He felt relaxed and terrified at the same time thinking about the meeting that would convene soon and about the appointment to the doctor at this evening to see his fetus' image for the first time.

However, a slight vibration could be felt and the light of the elevator was cut off?

"Is this a blackout?" Tselmeg assumed that he would be a bit late to the office due to being stuck in the elevator.

Meanwhile, in the universe, dark matters that are invisible and almost negligible to our existence were revolving around the earth, and as the earth was in the epicenter of the vortex, a miracle just has happened.

When the dark matter was revolving around the earth, the exact location of the epicenter of the vortex was in Mongolia, precisely the elevator Tselmeg got to 11th floor. Due to rotation of the dark matter a wormhole, to an alternate parallel universe, just wide enough for an elevator to pass has opened and engulfed the elevator to the parallel universe.

After 30 minutes of patient waiting, in the dark elevator, only the light source in the dark elevator was the light that was passing through the gap between the elevator doors. Tselmeg was feeling the urgency to come out of the elevator and forced to open the doors.

A bright light encompassed Tselmeg's eyes whereas he acclaimed "Ah, it hurts!",adjusting his eyes to the light, he was thinking 'Howcome does the light become this bright in the corridor? It's usually not this bright!'

After a while, when Tselmeg opened his eyes, he would see a desert that resembles the Mongolian southernmost Gobi desert. An infinite barren area of the landscape, with an infinite number of sand particles, were shining under the bright sun.

"Holy crap!" wiping the sweat on his forehead, Tselmeg was shocked to his core. He couldn't understand what really was happening to him. Just a moment ago he was in the office building. But suddenly, right now at the moment, he has arrived at this desert.

'I must be dreaming, let's just pinch my cheek' Tselmeg pinched his cheek as hard as he could, but the pain that is coming from his cheek was real.

"Wait a moment! I know what it is" jumping on his feet, Tselmeg was firstly excited to find himself to be summoned into an alternate universe, Tselmeg used to read many Novels that included reincarnation, transmission, and summoning into a different universe. That is the reason why he found himself to be a very lucky guy to experience summoning into a different universe.

However remembering his pregnant girlfriend, as well as his future baby, he would fall into an endless dilemma. In his most innermost part of his soul, he would sacrifice his endless opportunities as a chosen hero and just give up his opportunity to immortality.

After stepping out of the elevator, he declared confidently, and loudly "My name is Tselmeg, I am the hero you have summoned into this world. But I would boldly say! Let me reverse summon to where I was originated!" Posing in a heroic manner, he stared at the sun and smiled letting his pearl-like white teeth shine.

But seeing the outer area of the elevator, he would only find himself all alone in an endless desert! The only thing besides the elevator and him was a tiny little lizard that would curiously see Tselmeg meanwhile sliding his tongue out of its mouth.

Tselmeg awkwardly looked at the lizard and thought 'It seems that it is not a summoning into an alternate universe. Perhaps it's reincarnation, or am I just transmigrated into this universe accidentally?'

Just as Tselmeg understood this is not a summoning, Tselmeg assumed that it was a reincarnation where he just died in the elevator and found himself in this body..

But thinking after a while, whereas usually, the Main Characters of the Novels get some memories regarding the previous owner of the bodies, and remember the death of their previous life also the evidence that the elevator is still existing on the sand, reincarnation becomes a deniable solution on his current situation.

In Tselmeg's mind, one feasible explanation flashed by the lightning speed!

"System!", "Status check!", "Gaming Console!", "Support!" Tselmeg shouted inside his mind as well loudly as loud as he can.

Waiting for something to happen, Tselmeg hesitantly expected some outcome. Unfortunately, nothing appeared in Tselmeg's mind.

Surprised, Tselmeg felt rage towards the unexpected outcome. "Really? Nothing happened! What a mean God! On every novel that I have read, whenever the MC that transmits to any universe, cheat like systems are always be present with the Main Character. Okay, calm down. This is not a novel."

But still, you let me separate from my lover and leave me here to die by dehydration?"

After several hours, walking through the infinite sand, under the burning blaze of the sun, Tselmeg was now breathing heavily, depleted almost all body fluids, and dehydrated laying still on the warm sand.

"Finally, the sun has set under the sand." Tselmeg sighed, looking upwards towards the gradient of colors of the sky.

Due to torching hot sun, as well pan like sands he was walking, his skin feels burning whenever he touches something. His broken lips, panda like tired eyes shows his thirst for water.

He wondered what his girlfriend would do if he couldn't come back to her. He was thinking how long it would take to get back to Mongolia, how long it would take to embracing his girlfriend and future baby. Perhaps, he would become a skeleton and buried under the sand here. "I am sorry for not being able to meet you today at 6 PM" Tselmeg sighed and closed his eyes.

Due to raised in a city, and not learning any survival skills in a desert, Tselmeg was losing his hope. He read many books, novels, and other situations. But the main characters on those novels all had plot armors, or cheat like systems. What does he have here? He never had monstrous luck as big as the novel main characters back in his life, he doesn't have a fit body or ancient artifacts that are inherited from his ancestors.

Thinking about how much a loser situation he was back in Earth, nothing special compared to other guys, he wanted to give up. But giving up here is not a choice. He must survive and meet his unborn baby, and marry with his girlfriend.

"No! I shall come back to Earth, no matter what. Make it soon and to do that I need to survive first! Nanami, please wait for me. ." Tselmeg opened his eyes while it become crystal alike by the reflections of the stars.

Looking at the stars, he remembered some constellations he studied back in his Highschool, which is Ursa Minor constellation /Little bear/ as well the North Pole star that you can locate easily by it's apparent shapes.

Looking upwards, paying attention and uprising his focus, he was searching for Ursa Minor constellation. Interestingly he couldn't find the constellation, all the stars here were very different, different than the ones that could be observed on the earth.

"At least, I just found out that in this universe, there is no Ursa Minor constellation, as well as the North Pole star! Which means I am no longer on Earth!" Tselmeg discovered the difference between the earth and the unknown location he currently is.

The discovery made Tselmeg feel again hesitant and weak. Just a few minutes ago he hoped that he was still on the earth and he has just to find the local village and somehow he would manage to go back to Mongolia.

Closing his eyes again, feeling how weak he was, Tselmeg found something cold was entering his body, strangely different from regular cold feeling, it was nourishing and yet flow of energy that you can feel in your body.

Focusing on the energy, looking around, Tselmeg could see that there was a lot of river-like streams of the energies flying in the air.

Breathing deeply, calming himself, sitting on a lotus position, Tselmeg entered meditation state for the first time, being drunken by the mysterious energy. The mysterious energy-filled Tselmeg's every cell. It nourished the thirsty cells, healed and restored him to his hydrated state.

Upon waking up in the morning, before the sun rises, Tselmeg found himself energetic again, and feel no demand and urge to drink water.

'What a marvelous energy! Was that Mana? or the Qi that Xianxia novels always mention?' Tselmeg felt hope and a way to survive in this harsh environment.

"Nanami just wait! I will meet you. I promise you!"
