16 The Best Hangover

Selena woke up feeling like she had been hit by a bus. It seemed like someone was hammering her skull from inside out.

Apparently werewolves also had hangovers.

While still making sense of where she was, someone entered the bedroom in a burst, making a loud noise with the door.

Selena could not believe when she saw Lucas standing in front of her, with a glass of water and an aspirin in one hand, and a towel on the other.

“Morning, princess. I came to bring you your breakfast.” he said offering her the aspirin and the water. “You don’t look very good.”

Selena was still trying to figure out what had happened. What was she doing there? Was that his room?

She swallowed the aspirin, hoping that the construction inside her head would cease soon.

“I also brought you this. I think you’ll feel a lot better after a shower. You can use my bathroom.” Lucas offered her the towel.

“What am I doing here?” Selena got up from the bed in a rage, but sitting immediately after that. Not a smart move.

She seemed to be having a lot of those moments lately.

“We can talk about that later. Take a shower while I make you some coffee. That will lift your spirits.” Lucas said while closing the door of the room, leaving a very confused and intrigued Selena behind.

She got into the bathroom and could not believe her image on the mirror. She was horrible. And Lucas had seen her like that.

Oh, God! Couldn’t she catch a break?

What the hell had happened on the night before? How did she end up at his house, or better yet, his bed?

With a whirlwind of thoughts going through her mind, Selena ended the shower and went straight to the kitchen, where she found a very attractive Lucas pouring some coffee in the mugs.

When he noticed that she was already there, he lifted his head and stared at her with those dark blue eyes that always made her so nervous.

How was it even allowed for someone to be that good looking?

Lucas passed her the mug and sat on the chair in front of her. She was still standing, not sure of what to do. She was out of her comfort zone.

And to make it even worse, that was his territory. She had no power there. Specially with that glaze all over here.

“You don’t have to stand there forever. You can have a seat, you know?” he teased her.

Selena rolled her eyes and sat on the other chair, the one that was the farthest from him. She thought that would be more safe, since she was very afraid of losing control.

“So, will you tell me how I ended up here now?” she asked impatiently.

She took a sip of the coffee and that was phenomenal. She felt the heat going through her throat and stomach, making her feel very cozy.

He was looking at her so deeply that it made Selena a bit shy. She was never like that in front of anyone.

She was likely to impose herself, show that she was very fearless and independent. But Lucas had the power to make her forget about all that.

It was almost like she felt the need to be taken care of by him. She liked the attention he was always giving her. She liked that he was always staring at her.

Even though she denied, she liked to catch his eyes, she liked that he seemed to be interested in her.

“Well, you don’t remember how you got here?” he smirked and drank his coffee.

His eyes were still on her, checking her every move.

“I remember that I left the bar alone… And that you appeared a little after that, scaring the sh*t out of me.” she said angrily, remembering how she felt.

She also remembered the feeling she had when she thought she was being observed by that guy near the tree, but couldn’t remember exactly how was his face.

“Yeah, well, I already apologized about that. Anyway… You didn’t seem to be able to get home by yourself. So I thought it would be safer to bring you here.”

“And what gave you the right to make this decision for me?”

Lucas raised his brow, smiling.

“I don’t think you were able to make any smart decisions. So I took the liberty of doing that.”

He looked at the window, nonchalantly.

“You didn’t seem very concerned about that while you were sleeping in my arms either. Although, I must say, you were very reluctant in the beginning.” he continued.

Selena was looking at him in disbelief.

“Well, I…”

She didn’t know what to say. She was still trying to comprehend what that meant. Was he concerned about her? That’s why he took her to his house?

But at the same time he took her there against her will. But since she didn’t seem very lucid either, maybe she should thank him.

Lucas had his eyes on her again, waiting for her reply.

“Then I must thank you for taking care of me.” she said, getting on her feet. “And I don’t think I need to ask you if we… If we…”

Why was she going that way in the conversation? She would remember if something had happened. Right?

“If we what?” Lucas put his mug on the table and got up too.

He started to make his way to her, getting closer at each step. Selena started to feel nervous.

“Well, I mean… We didn’t, you didn’t…” she was stuttering. How would she make that question without sounding weird?

And also, why was he getting so close to her?

In a second, Lucas grabbed her by her waist and put his arms around her.

She didn’t even have a chance to think.

Her body was glued to his, and their faces were so close that she felt intoxicated by his eyes.

His scent was making her think about things she didn’t want to think.

“I don’t know if I’m offended by you not remembering if we did something, or if I’m flattered that you thought about this possibility.”

Selena’s mind was in chaos. While her head was telling her to back off, push him away and go home, her heart was beating so fast, making her want to end that distance between them with her lips.

But while she was struggling with that, Lucas was more successful in making a faster decision.

“I’m sorry, I don’t think I can take it anymore.” he whispered.

And with one hand, he grabbed her neck and pulled her towards him, giving her a very passionate kiss.
