The Child

And thus, abyss came over me...

...

Well to be exact, the moment I started to perceive the surrounding there was only darkness, abyss. I always wonder about who am I, what am I, and how I ended up in this nothingness but to no avail.

...

If there is nothing besides me does that mean that I am the only thing that there is? Only I exist? Does that mean am I everything? No, that must not be it... After all there is still the abyss.

...

All of a sudden, there was light, an unbearable pain... Where is this light coming from? Why am I in such agony? Why does every ounce of my being feel like its contortions in to different shape? This pain, make it stop...Please... So much pain...

...

Pain

Burning

Darkness

Pain...

And after all that there was an abrupt stop. There was a loud noise, and the pain ceased.

The bloody and unrecognizable body of the women was lying on the operation table. All across her body, there was burn marks as well as cuts and wounds so bad that her bones could be seen there was a hole on her upper body where her right chest should be. On her upper back, on her right scapula the effects of frostbite could be seen around a fist sized hole. The tissue around the hole was dead and untreatable. Her abdomen had a clean cut started from her ribcage to her pelvis. The tissue around her abdomen was swollen looked unnatural as if the cut was made after her demise.

Outside the operating there was a man with bandages covering his right eye could be seen. A man wearing a white mask with red whiskers suddenly appeared out of nowhere and kneeled before the man wearing bandages.

"The woman was already dead but we were able to save the child, Sir."

The man wearing bandages didn't even bother replying and just kept staring into the operating room. After what it felt like an eternity for the masked man, the man with bandages just waved his hand. The masked man disappeared as he appeared, without a trace.

The man that has bandages covering his right could be heard as he muttered as he walked in the empty hallway that leads to the operating room.

"Hiruzen can deal with the women, I will take that child."

As something pulled me out of the darkness all I could feel the pain. My eyes, my lungs and my skin were burning with pain. As instinct came over me and I started crying. What was this place? Why it is always hurting me? As I was searching the answers to my questions the cold and rough hands that pulled me from my abyss wrapped me in a blanket. As the cold that I was shivering stared to go away and the pain started to nullify I could feel my consciousness fade away.

At the top of the tallest building in the village stood a man, this man had a long white coat and was wearing a triangular hat that hat the latter fire on it, was staring at the mountain range that was in front of him. This mountain range was special for the villagers that live beneath this mountain's shadows, all of the faces of the village's leaders' faces were carved into this mountain range. Out of the three faces that were carved into the stones, the man was staring at his own face.

'How displeasing' he thought.

"I seem to fail you every time, sensei. My face is not worthy enough to be with yours." he muttered.

Suddenly a figure with a cat mask appeared next to him.

"Sandaime-sama!" the figure kneeled "We couldn't save her, the mission was a failure." Said the figure.

"Find who is the responsible and bring it to me!" said the man in a low but stern voice.

The figure disappeared.

...

The doctor looked at the baby in front of him, "The baby should be no more than six months old; he should still be in his mother's womb" he thought. The baby was still developing when they cut open her dead mothers' womb and took him out.

The doctor turned around and said to the figure in the black mask "The boy is alive but severely underdeveloped, there is no medicine in our world that can fix that.". And after a pause "We can only try more unconventional methods." He said with an uneasy tone.

"Thanks for your service, we will deal with him for now. You are dismissed." said the figure in the black mask.

When the doctor left the room, the figure took her mask off to reveal her beautiful face. The woman's eyes were as blue as the sky while her lips were as red as fresh blood. She had shoulder length auburn hair. Her sharp features gleam beautifully in the moonlight as she gazed in to the boy in front of her.

The baby was small and looked malnourished, he looked like there was some skin stretched to cover a pile of bones. There was little to none flesh or muscle tissue in the baby's body. His hair was pitch black which had an interesting contrast with his pale body.

As the women picked the baby, he opened his eyes. As the those black pupilless eyes focus on her the woman felt as if she was looking her seniors in the Root Special forces. Those eyes which shine brilliant darkness, eyes which is both lifeless and filled with life to the brim amazed the women. As if the baby understood her looked her straight in her eyes.

"Aren't you an interesting little fella?" she whispered in the baby's ear as she holds him in her arms and went for Mission objective.

As I regained my consciousness, I felt like something or somebody picked me up. I opened up my eyes as I was trying to see my surroundings, I was finally able to focus my vision enough to see a pair of blue eyes trying to stare deep into my soul. The eyes… it was mesmerizing. The owner of those eyes leaned closer to me and whispered something in my ear. I couldn't understand what was going on as we started going towards somewhere.

With a knock on her door the nun woke up, 'who can this be, disturbing an orphanage in the middle of this night, don't they have any common sense?' she thought. She got up from her bed and quickly took the kunai which was hidden beneath her pillow, she riled her chakra and went through the hand signs necessary for the substitution jutsu, with a single hand sign she could replace her place with a log and escape. While she was getting ready, the knocks on the orphanage's door was already turned into loud bangs. 'Either there is a mission or the village is under attack.' She thought. When she opened the old and moldy oak doors of the orphanage, she gasped in shock. There was a familiar ANBU, which was special forces of this village, holding a small and pale baby. The baby had hair so dark that it seems as if it was the night itself.

The ANBU gave her the child as well as a mission scroll without uttering a single word and left.

"So, there was indeed a mission" she thought
