Oh Giselle

Giselle's POV

______

Emerald shows Giselle a flier from her book bag of the concert. "Look it's a pop concert, but since it's getting close to Halloween they decided to add a haunted house! It's a three day event, did you want to go?" Emerald looks at Giselle half expectant.

Giselle remembered she was still grounded from going out anywhere, "Ah, I can't, I'm still grounded, fuck." Giselle sighs. She was missing out, now she actually felt bad for hitting Fae in the face, but it still felt worth it.

"I would if I could, a haunted house sounds fun, it would definitely take my mind off things." Giselle looks down into her lap as if she were somewhere far away.

Emerald notices, "Honestly, I get that, parents can be such a pain in the ass sometimes, I mean you could sneak out."

The two girls laugh, both realizing that they need an escape from pain.

"Well then, how about you boys? You gonna go to the concert?" Emerald asks.

"Oh, well, I think I might skip the concert, I just remembered I have softball practice." Toby seemed bummed out.

Giselle looked over at Darian with her foggy green eyes, genuinely curious, "What about you? Do you like concerts, Darian?"

"Mmm, not really, I enjoy music with headphones on." Darian shrugs.

Giselle didn't take Darian to be the type, she wondered what he listened to, "You should play some of your music when we go to do the other chores on my detention list then."

The rest of lunch went well, but Giselle was beginning to wonder where Sedrick ran off too, she missed him terribly.

Darian's POV.

_____

Darian notices Emerald and Giselle getting closer, it almost bothered him, but not the same as Toby. These newer feelings were making Darian feel conflicted.

He took the contact info Sedrick provided and decided to give the number a call that night when he got home.

"Hello?" a female's voice on the other end said.

Darian smiled a little, "Say, is this Kendra?"

"Uhm, yes this is she, who is this?"

"The names' Darian, I'm calling because you happen to know a friend of mine, Giselle, she's going through a tough time, refuses to tell me anything no matter how much I try. She told me I should talk to you." Darian lied through his grin as if it were only natural, "I was wondering if we could maybe meet up somewhere preferably somewhere busy, I wanna help her."

Kendra didn't answer as if she was pondering. She gave a little sigh and agreed.

Later that weekend, Darian was met face to face with a blonde haired girl. A bob cut framed her face and her black sweater almost made her look miserable.

It piqued Darians curiosity how Giselle became friends with a girl who dressed like a peppy law student. But he wasn't here to judge, the cafe they were at was busy as promised, the coffee smelled good, but something I Darian knew the information he was about to get was even better.

Kendra sipped her coffee almost awkwardly, she wasn't good with strangers. "So, what is it that you're wanting to know about her exactly, how do I know you're actually a friend and not another person trying to get at her?" straight to the point.

Darians lips twitched, "Well, we actually met back in elementary school, but she ended up forgetting about me, I got caught up with her this year in highschool though. She helped me when Fae tried to start some drama with me. But now she doesn't wanna talk to me, I don't know why, I was hoping I could get some answers from you since she mentioned you alot."

Darian almost gave himself a pay on the back for that lie, but he was willing to do alot for Giselle's secret.

"I see. It must be her parents then, that or there is another rumor going around. She's probably afraid people will get in trouble with her again." Kendra took another sip of coffee.

"What does that mean?" Darian asks.

"Well... me and Giselle ended up parting ways because of Fae. That girl would bully Giselle a lot. Me and my other friends ended up believing Fae and we ostracized her. Actually it's kind of funny, before we stopped hanging out Giselle told me she wanted to be a sneaky fighter. I don't know why she didn't just fight Fae."

"A sneaky fighter?" Darians heart sparked a little, his anticipation grew tremendously.

"She hasn't told you that yet? Hah! She used to be obsessed with the power pressure points had on people. She ended up using it on the boys in middle school, that's partly why I became friends with her." Kendra reminisced, completely oblivious to Darian's new found pulse.

After talking about Giselle a bit more he left the Cafe and parted ways with Kendra.

Darian had a lot of studying to do.

Giselle's POV

_______

That Monday sitting in English class Giselle noticed Darian looking very studious. The teacher, Mr.Hawks drove the class to pure boredom with the monotony of his voice. His plain looking appearance wasn't helpful either. Looking around it seemed Fae and Darian were the only two paying attention to what he was saying. But Darian looked like he was enjoying himself too much to pay attention to this guy. Giselle decided to peek over to see what Darian was so strongly focused on only to flinch away after getting caught trying to peek at it.

Darian looked over at her, it was so obvious she wanted to see. He gets close into her ear and she can feel his breath tickle her. "Wanna take a look?" he whispers.

Giselle's eyes light up and she nods. She looks over and sees it's a well drawn but work in progress of the human body. "What's it for?" she whispers.

"I'm studying anatomy, trying to get better at drawing." Darian grinned like a cat.

Giselle smiled, she thought to herself, 'That's kind of cute'.

"Say maybe once you have some free time on your hands you could draw me? I think it'd look pretty cool." Giselle whispered.

"Ms. Stein I would greatly appreciate you keep your whispering in your head please." Mr Hawks stated.

The rest of the class giggled as Giselle stared into her notes somewhat humiliated.

"Don't worry, I'll make a good drawing of you one of these days, you can count on it." Darian looked at her reassuringly. This gave Giselle a warm feeling in her chest, if she had to describe it, it was comfort. Giselle wanted nothing more than to hug Darian with gratitude. "Thank you." she mouthed.

Darian's POV.

_____

After school got out that day Darian walked home excitedly. Entering his empty house he went straight to his room. Plopping all the sketches from his book bag onto his desk.

Giselle was smiling in one picture. Deadfaced in a couple of others, disappointment came across her face in some others. Frustration scattered out here and there. Darian tape the sketches he had made of her on his wall. He stepped back and took a look at his work. Hundreds of sketches of Giselle layered his wall like paint. Every angle, every pose, every look, he desired that one singular face one more time. It was fear.

One more face of fear as Giselle landed her punch. He longed for just one more.
