Page VI - First Day of Classes

For the rest of the free time that Theodore was given, he spent the last four days on his dormroom with Ray bearing his loud noises as he plays games. But he couldn't go anywhere since there's two 'annoying' people that he met as he tried to find a spot to peacefully read his books. So today is the first day that their classes will officially start.

Their days start as everyone wear their dark red uniform with the mark of the Nerivilya Academy on the pockets of their clothes. The boys wear black pants and the girls wear the same uniform for their top and a skirt that extends at the bottom of their knees. Their caretakers, Neith from the boys' dormitories and Elizabeth from the girls' dormitories line them up neatly as they wait for everyone to come down and join the gathering. Ten minutes before the start of their classes, they'll start heading to the school itself even if not everyone is present.

They go into their own respective rooms. And Theodore and Ray's is at 1-1. They go in and the room is overwhelmingly extravagant. It's set up like a college or a conference room as their desks were set up like stairs. Everyone took their assigned seats which is a mixed seat in an alternate format depending on their cisgender.

"Goodmorning everyone, today will be start of our school year." The teacher then looked back as she faced the giant whiteboard infront of her. "My name is Erin Neria. I'll be your homeroom teacher for this year. The seats you have right now is not permanent. I don't care where you seat as long as you're quiet and willing to listen to me. That's just set up that way because you still don't know each other. But for me, I have already analyzed all of your documents so I already know every single one of you. I'll be calling you in an alphabetical order and if you're called, you will stand up from where you are seated and introduce yourself and your hobbies. Well then starting from the boys-" Erin Neria has begun calling her students one by one in an alphabetical order without having a list on her hands. The students were in awe of her beauty and intelligence. After calling them one by one, she then called, "Theodore Payne, from Newbird Academy."

Theodore released an exasperated sigh and stood up, "Theodore Payne, 15, hobbies are writing." And sat down quietly. Even though he didn't want to, he stood out from the rest since others added interesting twists to their introductions but his was just plain and boring.

The other teachers introduced themselves for the whole morning classes and lunch came. And just as expected, everyone formed their groups, the so called popular kids, nerds, weebs and all the other groups that everyone took interest in. In the first day, their seats already changed and Theodore was at the very top beside the window. As he was about to pull his phone and wear his headphones that he brought out from his bag to ignore the noise but someone tapped his shoulders from the side.

"H- hey." It was Celaine, the librarian that Theodore met.

"..." Theodore only looked at her and had not responded.

"I- I'm C- Celaine. From the library? We met a few d- days ago."

"I know. So, we're in the same class. Nice to meet you."

"M- may I?" Celaine then pointed at the free open seat next to him. I heard you were interested in writing?"

Theodore put his headphones back in his backpack and his phone in his pocket and continued the conversation, "Yeah. A little bit."

"A little bit huh..."

"Well a little bit is a bit of an understatement." He couldn't say it but only thought of it on himself. "How about you?"

"I've been reading books and trying to understand more and more about the genre I'm interested in. So I've been writing drafts about my own story."

"And the genre is?"

"R- r-" She had a hard time saying what she wanted to say. "Romance." Her cheeks blushed and she tried to cover it with both of her hands.

"Hmm... I see. What books are you reading?"

"Mostly books by Liam and Adamo according to the articles I found."

"I see. What'd you like more?"

"Even though I like Liam's writing style, I just feel like they're mo unrealistic than Adamo's. But, but! Adamo's stories mostly ends in a heartbreaking ending. I know that he aims for a realistic ending but not every love ends that way... But I love both of their stories. Liam entices the reader to make them happy wherein Adamo's writing style brings in the reader with sweet words and then pile up all the tragedy that's about to unfurl to them in a single blow."

"Do you hate Adamo's writing?"

"No. I l- like it. But it's just that, why is he so obsessed with tragedy? That poor guy might've experienced something really horrible in the love department and projected it into his stories. Maybe someone really needs to show him what love is."

"Hmm..." Theodore let out a small smirk and returned to his blank face. "I see. Then can you show me some of the ideas you have?"

"Ah y- yes!"

Their conversation lasted until the end of the final class. They were seated alongside each other for the rest of the day. As 2:00 PM struck the clock, they were free to leave and explore the grounds of the school as long as they come back from their dormitories by 8:00 PM.

"H- Hey Theodore..." Celaine called out to him.

"Hmm?" Theodore asked as he packed up the remaining items on the table on his bag ready to go out.

"Which club are you joining in?"

"Club..?" Theodore looked back on his middle school days. He didn't join any clubs since it was too bothersome for him. He wasn't going to join this year too but his aunt Isabelle forced him to. "I don't know for now. I still don't know the clubs."

"T- then, will you come to the literature club? Y- you like writing like I do. I'll be there."

"I'll think about it."

"O- okay."

"Well then, I'll be leaving now."

"Y- yeah! Goodbye! See you tomorrow."

"...Yeah." Theodore watched as Celine ran to the library.

As he stepped outside of the school, hundreds of students were outside, a grade above him surely, inside of their stalls with their club names in front of it inviting people to join theirs. He couldn't go on outside as those people will be hounding him to join their clubs. Since these were second years and third years, "That means that the upper floors are empty. Maybe I'll go at the rooftop." He thought to himself.

As he went up the stairs, there was no people to be seen. He was nearing the very top floor until he heard the sound of... music? It was a beautiful they were playing whoever they are.

Theodore was drawn in by the music. "Clair... de Lune?" As Theodore looked at the room where he heard the music, there was a girl playing on the piano Clair de Lune by Claude Debussy.

Theodore felt a gust of wind came from inside the school and the wall that was dividing them disappeared. He felt like he was in a classical concert as he imagines the woman playing the piano in a beautiful white dress playing among the thousands of listeners. He was blown away by the outstanding performance she performed.

As she performs the last bit of Clair de Lune, the beautiful illusion that Theodore felt suddenly disappeared as he snapped back to reality. The woman playing the piano stood up and opened the door where Theodore was peeking. As she brushed her hair to the back of her ears, she smiled, "Come in."

It was one of the most beautiful things that Theodore ever saw.
