'Why are they speaking as if I'm just an object?'
Katelynn internally asked herself but didn't speak up. She had been through worse. Being treated as an object was not much. She was even treated like trash once.
Klast glanced at her.
That one eye contact rekindled Katelynn's hatred towards him. At the same time, she's curious, how will this man answer?
After a brief thought, Klast answered.
"Sexual needs..."
Katelynn's eyes widened. Meanwhile, the Division Leader nodded.
"Indeed, sometimes, we need to release some of our frustrations. However, you may not know this but there's a lot of women in this division who's willing to help you with that so it's not a valid reason."
"Manual labor and paperwork.." Klast pointed three fingers up.
"Hm, we all need assistants or we will be like Grehm." the Division Leader looked at Grehm, making him sweat.
"E-eh? What's wrong with me?"
"How many nights have you skipped sleeping?"
The Division Leader asked so Grehm didn't have a choice but to answer.
"I haven't skipped on sleeping, Division Leader!"
He proudly replied.
"Then do you know what's the day today is?"
"... Thursday?"
"It's Sunday already."
The Division Leader smiled while Grehm gasped as he didn't believe that the reverend Division Leader would joke.
"S-so I haven't slept for three days already?"
"That is correct, we all need rest sometimes. If you have a proper rest, your first bullet should've hit its target, should it not?"
The Division Leader acted as if he didn't say something grim.
"Right..."
Now that he learned of it, Grehm felt his sleepiness more.
Meanwhile, Klast glanced at Katelynn. Was this all part of her mysterious 'ability'? That question plagued his mind.
"Even I need some rest sometimes. When I play with Tookie, I feel revitalized. Oh, speaking of the Tookie, she escaped her leash, again."
"Ah, is that why you're here, Division Leader?"
Even though he's becoming drowsier, Grehm will not forgive himself for not attending to the Division Leader's needs.
"Yes, have you seen that cute dog of mine?"
"No, sorry, Division Leader."
"That's fine. I want to have a walk while I'm on it too. So, anyway, where were we? Klast, I don't think those reasons are enough to keep her as a tool."
"I have one more."
Klast replied as he put up his fourth finger.
"... she can be my spokesperson."
"Ah..."
Both the Division Leader and Grehm were immediately persuaded.
"Well, you do hate affiliating yourself with other people. So if you accept her on your own, I see that she's a perfect fit for the job."
Klast nodded.
"Then that's that. Grehm, you're not allowed to harm the girl but, at the same time, she's not one of us."
Hearing this from the Division Leader, Grehm sighed.
"However, that poses trouble for us. She cannot learn anything within the 'facility' and about the 'facility' so doing your paperwork is an inappropriate job. Although it's impossible to keep everything from her, just make sure she will never have the chance to spread certain information. Until she proves herself that she can be one of us, she will only be a 'tool'."
The Division Leader's voice deepened at the last sentence.
"... okay."
"But you will still be receiving your punishment..." the Division Leader then looked at Grehm and continued, "Take care of Klast's tool while he's gone. Afterward, receive your free treatment at the medical center and get some sleep. If I catch you having eye bags again next time, I will think that you're not fit as a manager. Got it?"
This threat made Grehm sweat bullets.
"I'm sorry, Division Leader, it will not happen again!"
"Good"
Soon after, the Division Leader and Klast were out of sight. Grehm groaned as he shook his wrist. He then looked at Klast's room and saw the stupefied girl.
"Hey, you, what's you're name?"
"Name...?"
Katelynn muttered. She was stupefied by what just happened. Didn't she basically become a slave in this unfamiliar place?
If she said her name, will she get treated like a person which she is?
However, Katelynn could only keep it in. She knew she wouldn't die. Attracting trouble would only cause her pain.
"Katelynn"
With a low voice, she replied. While she looked like she had lost all life in her eyes, she's actually scared. Right now, she's utterly powerless. Whatever this man does to her, she wouldn't be able to fight back.
"Alright, from here on, that's not your name here. Sharing personal information is frowned upon here. I will let Klast name you since he 'owns' you."
Grehm walked closer which made Katelynn flinched. He took a card out of his pocket and gave it to her.
"Until I register your name as a 'tool', here's a Guest Pass. Immediately show this to others or they will kill you on sight, thinking that you're an intruder."
After some hesitation, Katelynn just accepted it. Going with the flow is like her survival style, albeit she's hard to die.
"I know you're confused right now. Hell, I don't even know how you survived so take your time. Whenever you feel like eating, taking a bath, or changing clothes, anything, use that telephone on that table. You're in room 291, remember that. Treat this place like a hotel, ask for anything and if you're asked for a code, it's written on the caa~~"
Grehm yawned while speaking. He just wanted to get over it so he continued.
"Just... don't go outside until Klast returned. His punishment is harsh but it wouldn't take too long. Unluckily for him, the Division Leader just happen to walk here at this time and day. There are even times we wouldn't see the Division Leader's face for half a year... well, that's that. I can't welcome you yet so just... good luck."
With that, Grehm walked out of the room, leaving Katelynn alone in that room. Oblivious to him though, his simple rambling made Katelynn realize something.
'Unluckily for him...?'
Ever since she realized her hatred towards that man behind the explosion, she was filled with the desire to take revenge!
Revenge was the only thing that's keeping her breathing. Without her family, she no longer has anything in her life.
But the problem was, she's as powerless as she can be.
How can she take revenge?
That question was already answered earlier. Why did she need to move out of her home and live alone in an apartment?
It's because her bad luck does not only affect her but everyone around her.
"I just have to stick to him..."
