I tilted my head as I stared at Ruan with an unamused expression.
‘Loophole?’ I questioned him through the pack link, and he nodded his wolf’s head at me.
I didn’t miss the way his eyes flitted from me for a moment to the man standing behind me, Michael still held his crossbow within reach, the bolt still snuggly stuck inside, ready to fire at a moment’s notice.
I knew Michael was a trained demon hunter, but I didn’t know how well he was at fighting wolves. I silently prayed that I wouldn’t need to find out.
‘Who’s that?’ Ruan asked, his voice calm and nonchalant, but I could tell he was on the ready, too.
‘He’s a friend,’ I told Ruan in reply. ‘Now answer my question.’
‘The alphas set out groups in every direction they could think of. You didn’t think they wouldn’t look for you the moment they realized you were gone, did you?’
I narrowed my eyes at him. ‘I told you—’
