Treasure pavilion (11)

Author's note: this is from Seraphina's point of view

Out of the things Ketura gave me, I had no interest in the silky garment, but gold was a different thing.

The amount was staggering, and I felt like I was being the bully here.

Should I give her another bottle of pills? That would make me feel better, but she would probably want to return the favor, and I didn't want to end up in a cycle that would make her think we were friends.

I glanced at Killian, silently asking him what to do. He gave me a barely noticeable nod with eye signals that I should take it.

That tipped the scales. I was taking it.

"Thank you, Miss Ketura. Your gesture of sincerity is accepted and appreciated."

Her lips lifted into a grin. "Thank you, Miss Mezzanotte."

With this, I unexpectedly scored a silky garment that's an invisible protective armor and ten million coins.
