2 In the Village

The sun shone onto the forest village, starting it's day in a bright morning light.

Barion wakes up in a small wooden hut, rested in his bed.

Next to him, the window light glared directly onto him.

"Morning already then." Barion jumps out of bed, stretching.

His home was a rather small one, a table, his bed, and his hunting gear.

A knock on the door alerted him. Outside, knocking is his a fellow hunter friend, Oswyn.

"Good morning Barion, just woke up?" Oswyn asked.

"Yeah, are we about to go hunting again?"

"Not yet, just prepare your gear if were about to. I went here to tell you that the cooks made some rabbit stew for us, come." Oswyn led Barion outside, walking around the village.

Kids ran around playing with toys, the tanners working, people just exiting their homes, fishermen hauling their catch. A wonderful day for the village.

The two arrived at the rows of tables, where the cooks and their cooking apparatus, in full swing. Making food for the village.

Soon, a woman handed Oswyn and Barion bowls of stew. With their food, they began feasting upon it. Wolfing it down.

"Just delicious." Oswyn finished, rather quick.

Barion finished his own supper, satisfied.

Around them and the village, the forest glowed. Beautiful green grass or trees surrounding the entire area.

"Our haul yesterday was sufficient, deer fur was actually in demand for a while. Good thing we chose to hunt em." Oswyn said.

"So we got more money along with some more supplies given then."

"Yeah, more stuff to work with. For fur, they gave us money along with metals, we could make stronger arrows or blades with em. But we gotta buy it ourselves. Gotta commision the fletcher for a new set of arrows and a stronger bow."

"At least we got pay yesterday from the travelling merchant, after shipping the fur that is."

"Because of the deal, the fletchers started making more arrows to use. Fishermen began hauling more fish. Must be motivated by that deal, lumberjacks also started getting more wood to use. Heard we might start making some wooden walls, protect ourselves from local bandits or brigands."

"What about our merchants?"

"What about em." Oswyn unsheathes his knife, examining it after asking.

"Shouldn't we get more security for em?"

"Oh, our home kingdom of Hulisia employed more guards to protect em."

"Ok then."

The two stood up, finishing their meals as more people began filling the seats, eager to get their stew.

"What are you thinking of hunting today?" Oswyn asked.

"Probably rabbits or deer, small game for now. You?" Barion replied.

"Well maybe some boars. Alright, seems like it's time for hunting. Good luck." Oswyn patted Barion's back, leaving him alone, walking around the village.

Dogs and cats wandered the area. The small market at the center of the village had many customers, buying clothes among other goods. Butchers nearby started their work, giving a sum of the meat to the hunters, waiting for their share to be cooked back at home.

"Good thing i don't have to buy my own meat, i can just get a sum from the butcher once he finishes. Maybe i should also try hunting some boar." Barion thought to himself.

Barion arrives back home, starting to prepare his gear and cloak for camouflage.

"Knife, bow, quiver, arrows, rope, sack, and map." Barion repeated to himself.

Sorting out the equipment, donning the cloak and hood of green, Barion leaves his home. Ready to head back to the forest, away from the village and it's safety.

Barion starts running from the forest, in the direction of the forest trees. Still shining in the morning sun.

"What animals can i find today?" Barion takes out an arrow, readying his bow in case of anything happening.

Deeper into the forest, it shone more beautifully, in the distance he can see the nearby river where fishermen got their haul.

Birds chirped loudly, around. Barion continued down his path.

In the distance, a bush rustling alerted Barion.

He aimed his bow at the bush, awaiting something to come out.

Barion slowly moved away from the bush, moving behind a nearby tree.

Out came a rabbit.

Barion carefully aimed at the rabbit, pulling the bow string far back.

With focus, the arrow flew through the air, quickly making it's mark on the small creature.

The soul of the rabbit quickly left the body from the arrow wound, small, it ascended up.

Barion placed the rabbit inside his sack.

"First kill of the day." Barion went back to wandering the forest, with a fresh kill in his sack.

Barion reused the fired arrow, farther and farther away he wandered the forest.

A call of deer stopped Barion's wandering, he started creeping near trees and bushes. Going closer to the source of the noise.

Soon, Barion saw the source. A small herd of deer rested around in a tight group.

Barion pulls his bowstring back, he aimed his bow at those with antlers.

Holding his breath, Barion released his grip on the string, the arrow flew directly at a deer in the herd. Making it's mark on it's chest. The group panicked, starting to run, suddenly another deer fell lifeless with an arrow to it's chest as well.

"What the?"

Emerging from another set of bushes, Oswyn.

Barion came out as well.

"Good shot." Barion complimented Oswyn.

"Seems we both went to the same herd. Take your kill, let's bring these back to the tanner." Oswyn removed the arrow from his kill, carrying it on his back.

The two walked back, now with larger hauls to come back with.
