We reached City of reverie at the crack of dawn. The city was nothing special, European style setting donned the city which was known for making jewelry. It was a peaceful city which was neither too populated nor rich like Minner.
'Dreamless Town is at the border of Reverie. 'Young master said.
'We cannot get a traveler to taking us there so we need to constantly ask people about the location'
'Isn't it just in front of us' he said while pointing at the gate in front of us.
No way …. I really am going to die.
The gate was in made up of black marble each side had a pillar supported by a lotus design, although it was bright sunny day but as soon as we reached its entrance complete darkness enveloped us.
'Stay close to me. We are getting off the horse'
The town was completely deserted with no lamp burning at any corner. However, the most suspicious thing was that at every wall there was a mirror hanging, catching glimpses of something that could not be seen. It looked as if someone had deliberately put irregular pieces of mirror. It might be a shaman who came here to challenge this town.
A nostalgic sound of lyre was heard. It was sweet yet chilling to the bones, a sense of melancholy and longing washing over the like sorrow of losing a loved one. The sound was mesmerizing, alluring and peaceful.
Young master took out his weapon a vajra which crackled with energy just like thunder. A vajra is a weapon which could be modified into a spear with four blades each of different style. It was fueled by soul energy of the user and is considered one of the most dangerous weapons owned by only high-ranking shamans. The golden colored Vajra shone brightly with argent thunder.
I summoned Licht and schhatten who moved in front of me. Their tails rattling to the tune of the lyre.
'They will scout the area for us'
Young master nodded in response.
The town looked as if it was preserved from centuries. Two story building with porticos in some homes ran parallel on either side of the road. In the dull light of the Vajra, I saw a woman near the fruit shop. She was dressed in a pale colored skirt with her head covered by a red scarf. She was looking at the fresh-looking fruits in the stall.
'Miss.' I called out to her from a distance thinking she was wife of some traveler.
'Hold on…Look in the mirror' Young master said while holding my arms.
The small mirror hanging just adjacent to the woman showed our faces but not hers. She was already dead.
A chill ran down my spine. I was never good with ghosts and spirits. Clasping young masters' hands as a way to escape this nightmare I looked at him with watery eyes.
'It is okay, just don't provoke it. I don't think it is harmful.
'It' not 'she' when you die, your existence dies as well.
We moved quietly, cautious of her.
The atmosphere was humid and small beads of sweat already formed on my forehead, there was not even a single vegetation in this town as if it was a clay model with various figurines.
The tune of the lyre reverberating in the atmosphere stopped into a lifeless silence. We stopped at our paths unable to comprehend the situation. It felt as if the musician sensed us
We held our breaths as we waited for the sound to start again as if the sound now felt comfortable in this uneasy silence.
'Stay close, I think it will start again.'
Sound of the lyre started again, but this time a different song with a different tune. A dangerous tune unravelling unknown secrets, threatening us and drowning us in its tune.
A heavy sound was heard deafening our ears. The ground trembled from shock. I shut my eyes and clenched young master's hand tightly, afraid that if I let go, I would never get out of here alive, become a clay doll just like that woman.
'Noor the town is changing the lyre player is changing it' Young master shouted at me.
'Young master what shall we...' I could not finish my sentence when I was pushed away by young master, a wall just erected in between separating us and trapping us.
I lost consciousness as I hit my head on the ground while escaping.
I told him that we needed a plan
I lamented coming over here.
