The Magic Less Swordsman (Dropped)

In this world, magic is everything the more powerful your magic, the higher your rank in society. People that can only wield Stone Tier magic are peasants like farms and shepherds.

Those who can use Iron Tier magic are allowed to become merchants and craftsmen. Bronze Tier magic and above is where the real challenges lies.

If you are bronze or above you are considered to be a Combat Mage. If you are born with Bronze magic or higher, you can actually improve your magic tier, but the process is hard and difficult. Those born with bronze magic enter the relm of Combat mages, which are essentially Nobility, the reason is that bronze mages and above can use magic to manipulate their surroundings to a certain extent as well as summon and control the elements.

As a combat mage you are allowed to challenge those with a higher tier than you, If they accept, then you compete in a dual to the death against each other. The winner gains a boost in their magic ability. The harder the battle the greater the boost in ability. My mother has Diamond Tier magic, the second strongest tier of magic only behind that of the king, who is the only known wielder of King Tier magic.

Smiling happily as all children do when they are praised, I Taz Levius Pyxis am two days from taking my Tier Placement Test. Even from a young age I have been unnaturally aware of the world around me, by age 2 I could speak, read, and write.

Even as a two year old, I was expected to surpass around 90% of the worlds mages just by having the blood of my mother an Diamond Tier Arc-Mage. I am now eight years old, I live in a house with two brothers and three sisters.

My eldest brother Jean 16, the second eldest Martha 14, third eldest Isabel 12, the fourth eldest would be myself Taz, then my younger twin sister whom i am closest with Ida. My mother is a stern but caring woman, my father is a traveling ambassador for the king so I have never met him. Ida and I are only two days from taking our Tier placement test!

I duck under a wooden blade that swings past my head and I lash out with my own at my trainer Davik. He turns it away and we continue to clash. Learning to use a sword is something that all my siblings have done, but only i have truly taken to it.

I spend all my free time sparring with Davik and learning new techniques. Even at my age I am considered a master of the blade. Finally Davik knocks the sword out of my hand and holds his blade to my throat. "Sir Taz, that was an excellent bout." I nod "It was indeed Sir Davik.

If you would please excuse me." I turn and head out of the room Ida quickly approaches me "Hey Taz, What are you doing?" Smiling I say "I am going to go speak to brother Jean, I wish to play him in chess again."

She looks at me with her bright blue eyes, her golden curls bouncing behind her. "Why? Your just going to lose again." My pride hurt I remark snarky, "If i don't play him I can never beat him." She roll'd her eyes, "it won't matter how many times you play him." she mutters. "We will see about that." i huff and enter my older brothers room.
