Chapter One Hundred and fourteen

Getting his family back together was one of his greatest achievement so far. Although no longer complete, he was happy that at the very least, those still alive were together. He was watching his daughter and her pregnancy, she was advancing gradually and close to the beginning of her second trimester. He had followed her the other day for an ultrasound and was privileged to see the tiny life inside of her. It was a wonder and amazement to him and he felt really sad that he had not been there when his two women were going through their stages of pregnancy. During Rea 's time, he had been out there in the burning heat of Africa and then, during Ella's, he had been caught up with work although he arrived late. Looking at his daughters baby growth, he could almost feel like he was the expectant father. Bella had come to teach him a lot. He could now view life from another perspective. He vowed to stand by her and always give her his undivided attention.

Bella had gone to work that morning when Jonathan came in bearing gifts as usual, he looked unusually happy as though he had won a lottery. He handed her the package, he had gone out of his way to get her an handbag. Bella smiled inwardly, she remembered how she had been teased the other day by him. He noticed she had this special thing for school bags and promised her that he was going to reform her. She stared at the gift for sometime and then at him, this was too much. She could tell he was beginning to fall for her but she did not want to lead him on. "You know this is too much Jonathan right? ", she asked him.

"Hey if you're saying this so you can return it, I'll have you know that would never be possible ", he said to her and shifted. Mouthing that he would talk to her much later, they resumed work. Bella was taken aback by the gift. It looked really expensive and at her free time, she found herself pulling it out to admire it. Somehow, she remembered Jay and how he had always been there for her. She remembered them going shopping and how he gave her gifts. She sat down there in the locker room and began crying silently. So he was not even going to make an effort to find her, not to talk of searching for her. Was that how much he despises her, to an extent of not caring about her at all. She felt it so deep like a stab from a dagger. What then had been her place in his heart all along, was he always been playing games or had he fallen away on the way?,  she was letting her emotions flow in those tears.

Jonathan had noticed she was going to the locker room, he was not worried but then, few minutes later, he asked where she was but no one had seen her. She was taking really long so he went to seek her out. He had come in just when she was repacking his earlier gift to her, her eyes teary. He could tell she had been crying and he was upset. Somehow, he felt it was probably because of the bastard who had gotten her into this condition and that really angered him. He walked straight to her and pulled her. Her hands in he's, he refused looking behind or caring about what people were going to say or think. He needed to clear whatever was looming in her mind. It was high time she moved past this guy. He did not care about her obviously, else he would have been present a long time ago. Getting to the garage, she drew her hands from he's and dug her heels to the ground. Gaining her balance, she stared at him and he at her.

"Get in the car, we have to talk ", he said to her.
