Pinning her tall body against the hard wall, he looked into her beautiful emerald green eyes as he spoke in a deep voice, "I have two options for you," his body came closer to hers as he continued, "Be my girlfriend. Or," his lips turned into a sly smile as he whispered close to her ear, "Be my boyfriend." He even dared to wink right before her as his dark orbs glinted amusingly. ----- There are plenty of things that break not just a heart but a person as a whole. Some people get broken by love and some by family. But she was broken by life itself. She left her clan to discover the world but she forgot something her grandfather once told her, 'The world outside is a scary place. It's filled with people who would want to befriend you only to devour you alive. People like us are an anomaly. And the world calls us monsters but they forget; they are also the monsters wearing a mask of an angel.' To grow stronger, she seized as much power as she could by Ruling Europe under the disguise of a man- Lord Alev Knight. But now, she's forced to come back to China where she buried her memories along with herself over a decade ago. What will happen when those buried painful memories will come to haunt her again. Will she choose the path to destroy the people who betrayed her or someone will alter her idea of revenge? And what exactly pushed her to live with multiple identities? What made her disguise herself as a man? Will she be able to find the hidden truths of her own existence? Or she'll be buried herself with those truths? Xiao Zhiren left China when he was a teenager. Now, he's back in China to find the answers that were left unknown as he watched his mother being murdered before him. Will he be able to find the enemies wearing the masks of friends? Or he'll have to wear a mask himself? 'I can conceive death but betrayal is not allowed.' She had left those words behind for him. Will he be able to find the person who left him with a promise to come back? Or like every promise, he'll be forced to believe that promises are only made to break you? ---------- Side Note: This book is actually a standalone book. Chapter 1Lord Alev Knight's Torture

From an early age, we're taught to believe in a notion; monsters are hiding underneath your bed.

What we are not told is the reality of life that there is no such thing as monster hiding under your bed or in the closet for that matter.

But that doesn't mean that there are no monsters at all.

Monsters are real...

And these monsters hide inside our own self. We all are keeping a demon hidden in our soul.

The only difference is; some of us fight a battle with the demon inside of us for the rest of our lives while others just lose that battle and learn to embrace that inner demon.

The ones who lose this battle with their inner demons are called WEAK. They are said to be weak because they couldn't keep their humanity.

We often overlook the fact that battles are not fought alone. But battles are only lost when you're left alone by the world. It's not that we're too weak to win the battle, in fact, the people around us were too ignorant to push us in this abyss of darkness.

That is to say, the only way for our inner demons to conquer us is when we're left with no-one to hold our hand and show us the right path.

Some demons hide within you,

A few carry your life with you...

Some angels tread the path for you,

But only a demon travels with you...

Some angels might be asleep inside you,

But a demon is always there to haunt you...

Some keep the angels close to feel the light,

But what can you do to the demon that lurks deep inside?

As Lord Alev Knight gazed at the girl tied up with chains before him, he was in a dilemma of whether the girl was the demon or an angel who lost her battle?

Cobblestone walls were surrounding the eerie underground space as the metal chains were sprawled across the stone floor. It reeked of mold and humidity in the air but along with that, there was a scent of death and suffering lingering in the air.

The girl was chained against the cobblestone wall with chains and hammered metal shackles. Lord Alev Knight's green-eyes assessed the slender figure chained before him. She had short black hair and very common features, there was nothing too peculiar about her except for the sinister look in her eyes.

He could easily perceive that look in her eyes which said that she was going to kill him brutally. How could he not recognize the same look he has in his own all the time?

"Adia!" His pleasant voice rang out in the silent room.

"Yes, Sir!" A woman in her early thirties came closer to his tall figure and lowered her head respectfully while her hands were clasped before her.

"It's been two days and you're telling this lord that she has not even spoken of the reason why she attacked me?" Although the voice was deep and pleasing to hear, Adia knew better than to be fooled by that gentle tone. She was familiar with her master's disposition; the gentler his voice, the vicious he gets.

Adia licked her dried lips and didn't dare to look at her master's eyes. "Sir! It's not that we couldn't achieve anything with our torture. It's actually that she can't talk." Adia gulped down her saliva as she felt the beads of cold sweat forming on her forehead.

"Are you telling me that she's mute?" Lord Alev Knight quirked a single brow in question and he turned to look at the locked up girl again.

"Yes, Sir!" Hearing Adia's answer, a crease formed between his brows like a crinkled cloth. "And as expected, there is no record of her existence."

He rubbed his tapering chin in a thoughtful manner. "What about that one?" He asked shifting his gaze towards another chained figure on the wooden chair.

It was a young man with now ragged clothes or whatever was left of them and a swollen face which was completely unrecognizable.

"He's an assassin from Russia. And he's proving to be one hard nut to crack for now. We have even pulled all his nails out but his lips are sealed even now." Adia spoke with indignation as she glared at the unconscious man on the chair.

Lord Alev Knight lifted two fingers and ordered, "Wake him up for me!"

Immediately, two of the men standing in the dark corner came up and threw cold water bucket on the unconscious man. With a jolt, the Russian assassin woke up and darted his eyes in the gruesome room before his eyes glued on those bright, sparkling, green eyes.

The assassin gave a sinister laugh to challenge, "It's better to kill us, Lord Alev Knight! I won't be saying a word."

"Ah! Was that just a challenge that I hear in his voice?" Lord Alev looked at Adia who nodded agreeing with him. "Then this lord will definitely let you take pleasure in his favorite torturing ways." His lips curved slightly upwards making all his men taking a step back in fear. "Let's see how long would you able to keep that tone with this lord." Saying this, he pulled out a dagger from his ankle boots and pointed at the chained man.

"I've played with these things for more than a decade now. I'm not going to be scared of a simple dagger." The assassin sneered with disdain.

Lord Alev leaned a bit ahead and whispered, "Let this lord be honest with you. This lord's first toy was a dagger as well." At the end of his speech, he lowered the tip of the blade down as he continued to talk, "My old master used to say that when you come across a stubborn prisoner, there is no need to invest so much energy into that subject." The blade further lowered down the chained man's front in slow motion. "You can simply strike at the subject's weakest point which could not only hurt his body or mind but also, his hopes and dreams."

The assassin followed the dagger with wide eyes as it reached down over his belt and between his thighs. Through the thin layer of cloth which was left on his thigh, he could feel the cold metal blade sliding against his skin until it reached a certain point.

Seeing the blade so close to his manhood, the man gulped with a horrified expression. "You!" The man could only get this out before the tip of the dagger was pressed down in a smooth motion making the man howl with pain gushing into his entire body.

"What do you have to say now?" Lord Alev Knight looked at the man before him with a slight smile lingering on his perfectly shaped slightly thin lips. He drew back the dagger.

He winced in pain as his mind got hazy and had no energy left to talk or think. "Argh! Argh!" The tip of the blade came down again to stab his manhood and this time, he fainted.

"This is boring if you're to sleep like this," he said before passing a glance to his men. The cold water bit down on the chained man's skin again and he woke up with harsh breathing. With consciousness, the pain also came back as he stared at that green-eyed demon before him who in return waved his hand saying, "Hi! Shall we begin again?"

Before the tip of the dagger could land again, the man shouted, "Stop! Please, I beg you to stop!"

Lord Alev Knight stood straight and cleaned the dagger elegantly with his napkin. "Let's start with who sent you both to kill this lord and why?"

"I don't know who they are." Lord Alev glared at him with fury making him cower in fear. "But I know the reason why they want you dead."

"Keep going."

"You're the one leading the Internation Arms Dealing Traders Association. And since the time that organization is established, a lot of smugglers are not happy as they can't get their hands on most advanced weapons." After a pause, he added, "But I really don't know about who they are. I only know that they are from China."

Lord Alev tapped his foot on the floor for a minute and shifted his gaze back towards the chained girl. "What is she?"

"Huh?" The tied up man couldn't understand his meaning.

"Can you be sure that she's completely human? Or that her being mute is a coincidence?" Hearing these questions, the man fell in thought.

"I don't know anything about her. My mission was to lead that girl to you and she was tasked with the killing part who'd know that you're not that easy." He grumbled the last part but everyone around him heard it as they inhaled a sharp breath pitying with him.

Lord Alev cast a last glance towards the girl in shackles against the wall before taking long but steady strides outside the dungeon.

Adia followed closely behind him. "Adia!" He called her.

"At your service, Sir!" Adia replied courteously.

"Keep both of them alive." Adia stared wide-eyed at the broad straight back of her master.

Opening the door of his house, Lord Alev walked inside and pulled off the black jacket. Immediately peeling off his blood-scent clothes, he walked inside the bathroom.

Looking at the reflection of his own body with that personalized binding around his chest, a scowl appeared on that handsome face. That binding was like a reminder. A reminder that he was indeed she who was living in the disguise of a man.

Rubbing the reflection that stared back, he... Oh, wait! She walked in the glass shower area for a bath to remove the stench of blood off her body.

Royal Secret: I'm a Princess!

After living as a famous Korean vlogger-slash-mukbanger, Neoma died a (shameful) death and regressed to her tragic first life--- the life where she has to live as a hidden princess with a tyrannical father and a yandere twin brother. She died at the hands of her psycho brother in her first life. But luckily, she charmed her "big brother" this time. Her father remains a sc*mbag, though. But a blessing in disguise happened when her twin brother got "sick." Because of that, she has to pretend as the "Crown Prince," forcing her father to treat her well. She thought she was finally on the road to becoming a lady of leisure. But, despite her laziness, she still ends up completing royal duties that put her closer to the throne than her sick twin brother. The next thing she knew, they already prophesied her to be the first empress of their very patriarchal empire. Now Neoma finds herself in the middle of the succession war she never wanted to be involved in! *** [EXCERPT 1] “Neoma de Moonasterio, the first princess of Moonasterion Empire. From now on, you’ll live as Prince Nero’s proxy.” [The hell is this psycho saying?] Neoma, despite her confusion, still smiled at her father--- the emperor. “Father, what do you mean by that?” “From now on, assassins sent by my enemies would target Nero,” the emperor explained. “Until he’s strong enough to protect himself, you’ll pose as your twin brother.” Her smile froze, but she still acted innocent. “But Father. If I take my brother’s position, then wouldn’t the assassins mistake me for him and…” She stopped talking when she realized that was exactly what the emperor wanted her to do. [This sc*mbag wants me to be bait?!] “You’re no longer a princess, Neoma de Moonasterio. From now on, you’ll live as Prince Nero de Moonasterio,” Emperor Nikolai said coldly while looking down at her with glowing red eyes. “Try to survive until your twin brother comes back to take his rightful place, understood?” Neoma was too shocked to react. [Are you f*cking kidding me, you sc*mbag?!] *** [ORIGINAL BOOK COVER. Artwork by sola_cola.] *** [EXCERPT 2] “I’m so sick of your tyrannical a*s,” Neoma yelled at her father aka the emperor. “I won’t forgive you for hurting Lewis and Tteokbokki!” “What will you do about it then?” Nikolai asked with a smirk. “Kill me?” “Yes! I’ll f*cking kill you, sc*mbag!” “Language,” he warned her, upset that his five-year-old daughter curses like a sailor. “Using vulgar words is unbecoming of the future Crown Prince.” “I’m a princess!” Upon yelling those words, the royal princess’s eye color changed from ash-gray to red. [This is getting serious.] “Stop it, Nero,” Nikolai told her sternly. “If you keep that up, the royal knights will come and–” “I’m not Nero!” Neoma screeched angrily. Then she jumped in the air with her left fist, ready to punch him. “In the name of the moon, I’ll punish you!” [What…?] And Princess Neoma, pretending as the Crown Prince for her sick twin brother, punched Emperor Nikolai, her father, in the face.

Dear fellow readers searching for amazing content, It is my pleasure to make it known to you, that we've have finally got our hands on the most most delightful piece of good news tonight. And that's right, you've got it, we all at last have found a story that's is no short than BEAUTIFUL. Although, the story seems to be far from developed, we all can say it's gonna be one of the most magnificent ever written. It is a gold mine of content, that doesn't attract readers with all bunch of rubbish. The character sketches are just so overpowering, it reminds me of what the Author had once said herself, that she doesn't just create characters, she lives them. And that make the same so relatable and appealing. You will not find the same 'oh-so-weak-and-delicate' female leads and 'knight-in-shining-armor' male leads. And their story is definitely not a cliché 'love at first sight'. Even then, its unique and mysterious storyline will certainly make you fall for it. The other characters are not given only the position of the sidelines, and are of equal importance, which adds to the intrigue. Its so refreshing and decorative that I'm running out of adjectives now. And if you thought THAT'S good, we're far from over. Every chapter brings out the different colors of not only the characters, but also of life. The Author teaches us the most brutal of life's lessons in the most realistic but inspiring way as possible. You will not find cheesy, sugar coated, far-from-actual 'You are the best in the world' quotes here, but drop-dead cruel but real one liners. And I don't think I will find a word in the existence of the English language to describe the Author's creativity. I mean, HOW DID SHE COME UP WITH SUCH AN EXQUISITE, BEGUILING, IRRESISTIBLE, BEWITCHING, STUNNING, HEAVENLY, AND AGAIN BEAUTIFUL MASTERPIECE LIKE THAT? And I'm probably saying it while she is cooking up another even better story in her amazing mind. Also, just when I think I couldn't be any more impressed, she never fails to surprise me again. The amount of research, skill and effort she put into it is pretty overwhelming. The Author is quite stable with her releases, and also treats her readers a lot. Although we all are guilty of wanting more chapters per regular, and I don't escape the crime. And beacuse of our enless demands, sometimes, (very, very rarely), there're maybe a few typos, but it's way more than worth it. She actually takes time to read out her readers opinions and values them, which was a pleasant surprise to me, I appreciate it a lot. And all of this................ was actually ME BEING HELLA HONEST. To conclude, may I say, if you fall into it, you're not gonna be escaping. Cheers, Me

To start with, The FL in this novel should be full of darkness, over dramatic(poetic), mysterious & heartless BUT she's very contradictory... As the novel progresses, the FL shows some laid back, easy going and childishness that really contradicts her character.. As shows in some of her back story, it indicates that she's somewhat tortured or experimented BUT when her food fetish strikes, her being mysterious, heartlessness disappears... She really confuses me.. Her character does'nt convince me of being in the dark side but just being lonely-poetic that craves companions. As the novel progresses more the 'dark heartlessness' vibe disappears from her.. Most of the time she's genius & childish. She's trying to remember a memory that is tragic but the vibe she shows doesn't. The ML on this novel is also a genius but somewhat overbearing. He's viewpoint is somewhat different. He dotes on his younger siblings most especially Yuan, who acts like a thirteen to fifteen years old but in fact a n Eighteen years old lad(this bothers me coz his acting is not align with his age, or maybe his just too shielded by his older brother). This only shows that the ML's weakness is/are his siblings(most esp the younger bro). The characters needs stability(consistency) and growth... The story plot is actually interesting it hooks me BUT the character's attitudes confuses me...I may sound redundant but its really bothering for me. It takes time for me to read because I want to understand every part of it... I can still recommend this though, its still interesting to read.
