Chapter 25: Autumn Election(1)

A new day had arrived in the Ryugakure, the streets were lively, many people are on their way towards the Ryuotsuki Culinary Academy.

Today would be the 5th Ryuotsuki Autumn Election.

The students selected participate in a tournament-style election where the winner of the event has the opportunity to enter the Elite Ten Council at some point in the future.

The Autumn Election is used to determine the class standing of the current Generation of first-year students through a cooking tournament. Claiming victory in the Election can greatly increase a students chances of eventually becoming a member of Ryuotsuki Elite Ten Council.

A total of 60 first year students are selected to participate in the event; the first 40 competitors are selected by Ryuotsuki officials who oversaw and judged the students during the Ryuotsuki Friendship and Rapport Training Camp, identifying and selecting those who stood out most amongst the class. The remaining 20 competitors are decided by the Elite Ten Council. The Elite Ten Council also have the authority to remove staff elected students from the bracket if they feel that the student is not a suitable candidate for the Election.

After the decision of which 60 students competing in the Election have been finalized, the names of all 60 junior chefs who qualified are displayed on one of two boards, dividing the participants into either the "A" Block or "B" Block for the Election Preliminary, with 30 students in each block. Sometime after the announcement, all of the participants will receive a letter, revealing the theme of the preliminaries.

The announcement of the 60 participants is made right before the summer break, along with an announcement of the theme of cuisine that the students will be cooking in the Election Preliminary. During the course of the summer vacation, the candidates are given that time to experiment and plan out their dish.

Preliminary Round:

On the day of the preliminaries, the 60 participants will gather in the main hall for an introduction speech from the principal before splitting up into their respective blocks. Each block contains 30 students and a total of 5 judges who are generally big names in the culinary industry, one of which serves as the head judge.

Students are given one hour to cook and prepare all of their ingredients for their dish. The students will then make 5 servings to serve all 5 judges. The students are expected to bring their own ingredients and any appliances they may need in order to cook their dishes. However, the school provides the basic appliances such as a sink and an oven.

Each of the judges will take time to eat each students dish and critique them before giving a final score. Each judge can give a score from 0 to 20 points for a cumulative maximum score of 100 points. However, judging is very strict, as the judges treat each dish as if the student who prepared it should be on the same level as a professional chef. According to Tanaka, a score of 50 is the minimum score for a "satisfactory dish".

The top eight students, the top four from each block, shall advance to the main tournament. If two or more students are tied for fourth place, the judges will break the tie by choosing the better dish.

The principal of the school was Tobirama Senju, his hate for the Uchiha Clan had already ceased and his passion was moved into cooking, he was also one of the top chefs in the Ryugakure.

As for the Elite Top Ten, They were chosen by Tobirama himself, but they still needed to prove themselves in front of Tanaka.

Its not that Tanaka didnt trust Tobirama but Tobirama insisted that he needed to do it as part of the culture of Ryuotsuki Academy.

Well, Tanaka didnt really mind, he was happy he was able to eat food, but on these occasions, Hashirama and Madara will join even with the scowl of Tobirama.

Tanaka really didnt mind, even though he could eat delicious food, he still needed to show professionalism when it comes to judging.

Anyway, since Hashirama and Madara always joined him, he invited them to be part of the judges, in which Tobirama wanted to stop but he cant possibly refuse Tanaka's words and so he reluctantly accepted it.

Well, before the start of the tournament, Tobirama trained Hashirama and Madara about being a judge and how to be strict in many ways, in which the two listened carefully.

Tobirama told them that the food was good, then there will be better dishes, and if the dish was better, then there will also be much better dish.

In which the duo only nodded without understanding it, but they are intelligent so the summarized it all up and came up with sentence "Make expectations Higher"

Tobirama nodded happily, in the future tournaments, he could invite these two again if they showed great performance on the tournament.

Now back to the present, The Autumn Election is one of the most popular events in the Ryugakure that everyone in the village would go to watch it.

There are also students from Ryuotsuki selling their specialities on their stalls in which the people of Ryugakure loved this event.

After all, Ryuotsuki only have the elites of the elites, and even with the Ryugakure almost a million population, Ryuotsuki only have 300 at most students.

As for the graduate students? they already have their own restaurants, as for the most prestigious job for a chef, it was being the chef of the Ryukage, and the Guild Master, well, its Tanaka of course.

But no one was able to take this job from his Tanaka's wife, Erina-sama, but she was pregnant and wont be able to cook so many people had heard that Tanaka is looking for a chef in which many was striving for.

Who doesnt respect Tanaka? everyone in the village respects him.

As everyone gathered on each hall, depending on which one they liked A or B, it doesnt really matter.

As the time ticked the down, the autumn Selection finally started after Tobirama finished speaking.

Tanaka then stepped in front of everyone and took the microphone

"Its Tanaka Des, We'll now explain the rules for the preliminaries, as indicated in our written notice, the topic is Curry Dish.

All contestants have three hours, out of the sixty candidates in the preliminaries, only eight total may advance to the main tournament, in other words, only four from each group

Candidates relocate to your designated group, the preliminaries will begin in 10 minutes, good luck!" Tanaka explained.

The candidates immediately rushed towards their halls without any further ado, some were nervous and some were excited.

The moment 10 minute count down is done, Hashirama took the microphone and yelled, "Begin Cooking!"
