Chapter Thirteen

Quinn felt bad that she was leaving the next day. He didn't want her to go but there was nothing he could do. Her future and happiness came first. He wished she had not chosen to live in the school dormitory. It would have been very nice to drop her off at school every morning after placing a warm kiss on her forehead.

All he ever wanted to do was to hold her tightly in his arms without letting go but he managed to control himself so that she wouldn't mistake his desire for something else. He busied himself with different thoughts as he picked various items for her. He knew she wouldn't pick anything if he gave her the liberty to do so. The thought of it made him mad. Whenever he went shopping with Tina, she was always the one pointing the items they needed.

While on her toiletries, he contemplated on the shampoo she would prefer. Given how gently she was, a mild scented one would suit her best but he thought it was best to ask for her opinion.

" Which of the flavour do you prefer?" Quinn probed but didn't get any response. He turned his face to her and found her staring at him in admiration.

He was a kind of person who gets irritated when ladies stare at him that way but he loved every bit of attention Alyssa offered to him. His eyes went from her bright eyes to her small nose then her red inviting lips. He gulped with great difficulty and turned his gaze away from her. It took a great deal of determination from him not to crash his lips into hers.

Everything about her screamed seduction. She wasn't aware the kind of things she was doing to him. He cleared his throat to control the thought swirling around his head. Alyssa had also come back to her senses. Her long lashes trembled when she was caught openly gawking at him. She lowered her gaze and stared at her converse unable to stare at him.

" What else do you need?" Quinn had already placed three shampoos with different flavour into the cart.

Alyssa stated at the contents of the cart and shook her head. She was already satisfied with the fact Quinn accompanied her for shopping. Although it was a quiet one, it was also harmonious. They really looked like a family.

Quinn itched to hold her hand on his while they walked to the counter but managed to refrain himself.

* What's with these thoughts I have whenever I'm with Alyssa? Tina would surely feel betrayed if she finds out*

With that, Quinn kept a straight face puzzling Alyssa. The temperature was dropping little by little and she knew where it was coming from. She racked her brain trying to think if she had offended Quinn in any way. She shrugged after finding no answer.

* He is probably on his period* She stifled a laughter covering her mouth with her head lowered.

Quinn caught his lips between his teeth and hurriedly grabbed her hands taking extra care not to crush it. To him, it was quite tasking not to hold her small hand in his larger palm.

" Huh?" She stared at Quinn with bright eyes glowing softly. She lowered her head and fanned her face with her other free hand.

Just at that moment, Quinn heard her stomach growl loudly spoiling the atmosphere.

From his rear vision, he caught her stylishly peeking at him which he found ridiculous and amusing at the same time. He thought he had made her comfortable enough but he loved was wrong. She still behaved courteous around him.

His eyes became cold as he looked at her but said nothing. He led her to the car and zoomed off.

Alyssa looked at the fancy restaurant with great anticipation. The one she went along with Quinn Winters the night before had tasty dishes. She couldn't wait to feel the food against her tongue.

After they got seated, the waiter came to take their order. Quinn allowed her to order for him. He sat there without making a sound. He just focused his scheming eyes on her watching how her expression changes every time she sees the price of a dish.

Alyssa felt like crying. * Rich people aren't just called rich for no reason. Just a dish cost thousands of dollars and it's not enough to sustain anyone.* She bit her lip trying to look for the cheapest of all.

" That will be all" She heard Quinn's voice. She peeked at him through her lashes and noticed he had already ordered.

She sucked her lower lip seeing his expression. She dared not to say a word to him.

Suddenly, she felt uneasy in her stomach probably because of Quinn's cold aura. She politely excused herself to the restroom.

Alyssa lowered her head as she walked. She couldn't stop thinking about how Quinn's attitude changed so quickly. She stated down at her clothes and wondered if something was wrong with it. She entered the restroom with slumped shoulders and stared at her reflection in the mirror. She bit her inner cheek and drew a deep long breath. She exhaled and pulled out her hair tie letting her hair fall freely.

A shy smile crept up her face as Quinn placed his hands on her shoulder and kissed her hair.

" You grew put your hair?" His husky voice sounded in her ear causing her to squirm. She slowly raised her head up and stared at the mirror.

Her eyes widened when she noticed it was just one of her numerous daydream.

She hurried out of the restroom patting her hot face in hopes to reduce the heat.

" Ow!" She exclaimed as she hit her head against something hard. She held her forehead and raised her head at the person she had bumped into.

Her mouth formed a big O. She pinched herself and quickly apologized.

" I'm very sorry! I will be careful next time " She bowed her head and used the opportunity to try to escape. She couldn't afford to offend the guy standing before her.

Although he was putting on sunglasses at night and inside a building, she knew he was not an ordinary person. A light bulb lit in her head as she remembered it was mostly professional bodyguards that dress that way. Mysterious and hot at the same time in their all black suit.

Kai raised his head and stared in a particular direction. He smirked and held the hood of Alyssa's clothes and dragged her towards him. Her heart skipped a bit as she expected him to throw her on the ground.

He pulled her into a hug much to her surprise. She tried to push her tiny hands against his chest but failed. She was trapped in his strong hands.

" What do you think you're doing?"

Alyssa's heart began pounding furiously against her chest as her eyes dilated listening to her husband's voice.

She didn't know the bodyguard from no where. She bumped into him only to be pulled into a hug. She mustered all of the strength in her and pushed Kai away from her.

Surprisingly, it was very easy. It was like she didn't need much strength in pushing him. She chewed on her lower lip trying to think of how to explain Quinn.

That was when she noticed that something was wrong somewhere. She felt a shiver down her spine as she raised her head up and saw the two men glaring daggers at each other.

* Could this be the legendary love triangle* She wondered but quickly brushed it off.

Kai was the first to break away from the gaze.

The corners of his lips curled up as he directed his gaze at Alyssa. She shifted her weight from one leg to another uncomfortably and stared at the wall behind them.

" I see the reason you chose her to be your bride. She's certainly my type" Kai said laughing out loud.

As expected, Quinn's face turned ugly and he bumped his fist against Kai's shoulder.

" What nonsense are you talking about. She is my wife!"

Alyssa beamed a little listening to how he addressed her as his wife. Her little facial expression didn't go unnoticed by Kai. He chuckled and walked towards her.

" Off limit" Quinn growled and wrapped his arm protectively on Alyssa's shoulder. He threw Kai a side glance and walked away with Alyssa.

Kai clicked his tongue and patted his belly.

" The least you can do is to invite me for a meal. I'm sure sister in law wouldn't mind" He called out after them.

Alyssa blinked her eyes and stared at Quinn hoping for an explanation.

" Is–is he your.... brother? "

Even with her low voice, Kai was still able to hear her question.

" Pfft...."
