Eons ago, an alien species known as the Aesir, once worshipped as gods, sowed a seed on a planet inhabited by the weakest of all creatures in the galaxy called Yggdrasil. Midgard, they called this planet. Once the seed had ripened, the gods returned for the harvest, and they weren't the only ones.
On the 30th of July in the year 2023, a third of Earth's population was obliterated by a beam of light from outer space. Earth was invaded by the forces of Asgard, the home planet of the Aesir. Simultaneously, they were also under attack from another planet known as Jotunheim. The seed, referred to as "The Core" by New Dawn, was the object of desire for both the Aesir and the Jotnar's conquest. Thirty years ago, New Dawn, humanity's last hope, a research association-turned paramilitary organization deployed the Iron Dome to keep the invasion at bay. Now, it is the year 2053, and humanity seeks to retaliate.
