Chapter 47: Teaming Up with Rebecca

"Senior Zhang Fan, rest assured, your secret is safe with me. I would take it to my grave!" Rebecca's expression turned serious and heartfelt upon seeing my grave demeanor. Her resolve to honor my trust was unwavering.

"Relax, Rebecca, it's not that dramatic," I chuckled, seeing her clench her fists in a solemn vow of silence. Even if my abilities were revealed, it would only cause minor inconvenience. I realized I might have been overly cautious.

"But, Senior Zhang Fan, your secret..."

"Calm down. Here, take this gun for now. The P5 just isn't cutting it anymore. This will be safer," I said, patting her head and handing her the P5K. With potentially formidable creatures lurking around, a mere pistol wouldn't suffice. The P5K, with its manageable recoil and adequate firepower, was a perfect choice for providing cover.

"This can't be, you need this gun more than I do!" Rebecca hesitated to accept the P5K, insisting I keep it. Understanding the dangers ahead, she knew the submachine gun represented a higher chance of survival. Yet, her heart swelled with gratitude and determination to not accept it.

Her genuine concern and reluctance only made me appreciate her more, though I was unsure how to reciprocate these feelings, especially with the existing commitments in my life. For now, I decided to let things take their natural course.

After insisting she take the P5K, I magically produced a 4A1 rifle from my exclusive space, along with a directional explosive for breaching the locked door - a gift from little Ai.

"This…" Rebecca was astounded, never having witnessed such an impressive feat. This deepened the enigma surrounding me in her eyes, further fueling her curiosity and attraction.

"Neat little thing, isn't it?" I smiled, placing the explosive on the door. After detonating it and blowing the door to smithereens, I led Rebecca upstairs, much to her bewilderment.

"What happened?" Our teammates, alarmed by the explosion, were concerned for our safety.

"It's alright, just blew open a locked door," I reassured them over the radio, explaining the situation and advising caution due to the presence of scattered zombies.

With a nod to Rebecca, we proceeded onwards.

"My God, what are these!" Entering the room, we encountered two enormous insects - wingless mosquitoes with scythe-like forelimbs. Each stood two meters tall, an absurd sight indeed.

Without hesitation, I shot one in its eye, confirming it as a weak spot. The other charged at us, but Rebecca and I managed to suppress and eventually eliminate it.

"Nicely done!" I complimented Rebecca. Our teamwork was improving noticeably, which made her blush with pride.

Each insect yielded fifty points - a decent amount, considering they were just minor foes in the grand scheme.

Moving along the corridor and up towards the third floor, we found a massive water reservoir. "A swimming facility for the cadres?" I mused jokingly, though it more likely served as a chemical treatment pool. Perhaps this was where Umbrella experimented with bizarre biochemical creatures.
