Luna without claws, that's what people call her. Vione Celestie Munest is at the point of no longer hoping for fate. Living without a clear origin and not having claws is already sad enough for her. She will not add to her suffering by letting herself be belittled by her own alpha, Usher Thorne. So when Usher broke up with her, the only thing Vione said was. "I, Vione Celestie Munest, accept the severance of the bond with you as luna and mate, Alpha Usher Thorne." (NOT EDITED)
"I love Alpha Usher Thorne."
Vione Celestia Munest stood frozen. She stood still and said nothing to the confession she had just heard. How should she react anyway? Should she go back to spending her energy like before when she knew it was a futile action?
Vione realized it, Mireya Lark would not waver. Mireya would never leave, but neither would she.
"Why are you silent, Vione? Didn't you hear what I just said?"
Vione blinked. Her shoulders moved faintly as she took a breath. "What do you expect me to say? You don't expect me to congratulate you, do you?"
This time it was Mireya who was silent. She stared at Vione with narrowed eyes and both arms crossed in front of her chest, and then she walked. She circled Vione with a sneering impression.
"I don't need your congratulations. It's not important, but I think someone is starting to realize themselves."
Vione closed her eyes. She took a deep breath and hoped in her heart that the disgusting conversation would end soon.
"Congratulations? Hmm. Doesn't that prove that you can finally accept reality? It turns out that all this time it wasn't you who reigned in Usher's heart. Not you, but me."
The air was trapped in Vione's chest. The rumbling echoed there and gave off an unstoppable heat.
"Enough, Mireya."
Mireya smiled a sly smile. "Enough?"
"You shouldn't talk to me like that. You have to remember, Meriya," Vione continued as she opened her eyes. Her breath exhaled slowly and her gaze was fixed straight ahead. "I am your Luna."
Mireya's sly smile disappeared. The small steps that had been circling Vione stopped immediately. She was stunned and then decided to wait for Vione's next action.
However, Vione did nothing. Didn't say anything anymore. She just left Mireya.
Mireya snorted. For a moment she just rolled her eyes with an expression of disbelief. Vione just left like that?
Mireya's disapproval made her follow Vione. She held Vione's hand, then said.
"You are not a Luna, you're a useless Luna, Vione. Just as you realize that there is only me in Usher's heart, you should also realize that you have never been the real Luna."
Vione strengthened herself. Mireya's words made her body tremble in an attempt to deny it, but it was all in vain. Mireya continued to corner her in every way.
"You know right? The only reason why you became Luna is because of that damn prophecy. Without Ayla's prophecy, it would have been impossible for Usher to want to make you Luna. You are a pathetic werewolf, Vione. You are not worthy of being Usher's partner."
It seemed that Vione did not need to be reminded of the origin of the bond that existed between her and Usher. All thanks to the prophecy of the holy elder of the Flock, Ayla Crandall.
It has not often happened in the history of the Frostholm Flock's survival so far where Luna is determined based on a prophecy. According to the history inherited in the Flock library, this happened for the last time about 148 years ago. After that, Alpha always found Luna with her destiny.
The incident shocked the Flock. Some of the Flock objected, but could not do anything. Ayla's words were absolute and had to be obeyed, including by Alpha.
Ayla, as the heir to the position of holy elder, continued the important duties of the previous holy elder. She led every ceremony and gave blessings to all werewolf descendants who were born. She also reported every prophecy shown by nature to her, including the fate of Usher's partner.
Not a few opposed it. Some of them doubted Ayla's prophecy. However, the Thorne family showed their authority. They accepted the prophecy and decided that Vione was the right werewolf to be paired with Usher.
Unfortunately, that was not how people saw it. In their eyes, Vione was very unworthy of being Luna. She did not deserve to be Usher's partner.
Vione lowered her face. She saw Mireya's grip and slowly released it.
"Whether it's right or not, the fact is that I am Luna now. Not you, Mireya."
"You—"
"Regardless of who the woman who reigns in Usher's heart is, the fact is that I am his partner now. Not you, Mireya."
Mireya widened her eyes, especially because a moment later Vione just let go of her grip.
"I don't care how people see me, but I am Luna and Usher's partner. As for you?"
Vione stared at Mireya without the slightest emotion. Besides, why would she tire her heart for something she had already realized? Just think of it all as nothing and meaningless.
"People only see you as Usher's mistress. Nothing more than that."
Vione's eyes closed instantly right when she finished speaking. Mireya's hand flew and landed on her cheek. The sound of a slap was heard along with Vione's head jerking to one side.
Mireya's breath was ragged. Her chest rose and fell and she stared at Vione with anger.
"What did you say?"
Vione felt a tinge of saltiness appear at the corner of her lips, but she didn't wince. She held back the pain and smiled.
"Do you want me to repeat it?" Vione asked in a mocking tone. "Are you sure?"
Mireya didn't answer but raised her hand again. The second slap was ready to land on Vione's cheek but failed. Vione caught her wrist at the right time.
"It seems like you didn't understand what I said earlier, Mireya. I am Usher's partner. Like it or not, I am Luna. So watch your behavior."
Mireya snorted as she tried to pull her hand away. "Watch my attitude? Don't daydream, Vione. You've never been anyone's Luna. You should look in the mirror, you don't deserve to be a Luna. You have to be self-aware. You're just an outcast werewolf without a family, a werewolf who lives without claws."
Being destined to be a luna is not a bad thing. However, being born without a clear origin and claws is a disaster for Vione. Until now, she realized that those two things were what made her life no different from being in hell.
Vione tried to strengthen her heart. She lifted her chin high to build a camouflage that had so far managed to keep her two feet upright.
"So imagine this, Mireya. Even with family and claws, you still can't compete with me."
Mireya's face hardened. Vione's reply further fueled her anger. She could no longer hold herself back, but something caught the corner of her eye when she was about to reply to Vione.
"Let go of me, Vione! You hurt me!"
Vione frowned. "What do you mean?"
Mireya's change in attitude confused Vione. She looked at Mireya with a look of incomprehension and suddenly a thunderous shout rang out.
"Vione! What did you do to Mireya?!"
Vione flinched not only because of the shout but also because of the jolt that made her fall a few steps back. Luckily, she was alert enough so she didn't fall over.
"Usher."
Vione's eyes widened at the sight. With her own eyes, she saw Usher approaching Mireya and checking her wrist.
Vione was stunned in disbelief. How could Mireya do such a cheap act?
