THE LUCKY CAT
Richmond leaned back in his leather chair, his fingers tapping impatiently on the mahogany desk. The rhythmic ticking of the antique clock on the wall seemed to mock his growing impatience as he awaited Anne's arrival. The anticipation of troubling her delighted him, especially when he could witness the fleeting annoyance in her blue eyes.
As he plotted his next move to aggravate Anne, a sudden scream echoed through the silence of his office. Richmond rolled his eyes, assuming it was another trivial issue his staff had blown out of proportion.
However, his indifference turned to concern when the next statement reached his ears – "A black cat bit me."
A mixture of disbelief and annoyance flickered across Richmond's face. A black cat in his prestigious office building? He stood abruptly, forgetting his initial plans to annoy Anne.
