"Overtime again… They don't give any breaks do they? *Sigh* It doesn't matter anymore, I'm finally out, and thanks to Takeshi, I got the work done at least a bit faster."

I sigh, but I can finally go home, but I can't rest here right now.

"Umaru must be very worried right now, I didn't text her I was going to be this late.

I have to hurry. Otherwise something bad might happen to her, and I don't wanna cause her more problems."

…

Taihei continues to walk through the streets, it's really raining hard and sometimes his umbrella would be blown away, but he keeps it with him and makes sure it doesn't open up to the limit that it will break.

The rain hasn't stopped since 7 PM.

Will this rain ever stop? Is the weather really that bad today? No reports were given so that kind of gives Taihei an disadvantage in knowing whether it's safe or not to go.

"I have to also make sure If Umaru's classes are cancelled, at this rate, it should be."

The rain keeps getting stronger and stronger. Taihei keeps walking, ignoring any possible distractions as much as possible. He can hear people, but when he looks around no one is there, not a single person is near him, and that leaves him wondering what's going on and why he is hearing people that aren't even nearby.

His mind keeps messing with him until eventually it all stopped at once, but the cost of his temporary insanity will soon pay off, once he turns left and sees a bright light and a loud beeping sound, and after that, all things went south quickly.

"Where is Onii-chan? He hasn't been home, it's getting kind of late. Umaru is getting a bit worried. She has gathered a lot of loot in her RPG game, I was very happy and congratulated myself and onii-chan for not arriving home early, but this is just concerning now…

He's never this late, sometimes when he has to deal with some things but onii-chan always sends Umaru a message if he's planning to be late, but what happened now?"

Umaru feels her stomach rumble, and seeing that her brother has still not yet arrived she walks to the closet and pulls out some chippus she's been hiding from him.

Her brother knows her when it comes to food, and chips are one thing, but she prefers not to let him know that there might be a bag full of chips right now hidden from his sight when he cooks sometimes, she eats them for occasions like video games, movie times and ect.

But this time she eats it for her own good, otherwise she'll be super hungry and she could possibly eat everything she sees.

Unhealthy, but very delicious and satisfying for our little Umaru, but she hopes for her onii-chan's return.

She doesn't like to think about the endless possibilities of the outside and him.

Lots of things can happen outside, and she would not prefer to think about it right now…

It's been two hours...

Umaru has already stopped playing her RPG and was sitting silently on her cat pillow with her hoodie on her head as she's now her teenager self. Concern wraps around her like sushi.

She is now very worried about her brother.

He never arrives this late, or stays outside for this long.

"It's either onii-chan is doing something with his work friends, or something else…" Umaru says with a worried mutter, eating some more chips to try and distract her from her own anxiety of where her brother could be.

She tried to continue the game she's playing or play something else but a feeling is preventing her from even touching her controller. Worriness is really starting to rack up Umaru, and her absence of her onii-chan feels kind of… off in a way, and without him Umaru can't literally do anything!

She's starting to wonder if Taihei has gotten himself into an accident, or maybe he was kidnapped or maybe he's a secret spy who's working this late and Umaru never knew! But Umaru's Thoughts stay in theories as there is no way to prove either of her own claims are even real or it's just contradictory that her brother is saying he works normally, but really, he's something else! ...but then again, she forgets about it for now.

Umaru stands up as she starts thinking what to do to prevent her anxiety from getting worse, and then an idea pops up.

"Maybe Umaru can tire herself down, she'll stop being anxious , and then she'll calm down." And then starts doing 10 rounds of squats, she tried doing push ups but she ultimately failed. She continues to work out, and even to the point that she circles around her pillow for 30 times. 

After spinning around for literally 30 times, Umaru falls to the ground, a bit dizzy and she could almost lose consciousness for stupidly working her body out without even warming up, but guess it's too late now.

*Rumble*~

Oh that's right, she's been eating chips and drinking cola this entire time.

She can cook something, like eggs, but she's too lazy to perform such an action, and she's sure she can hold her stomach and eat more chips. She'll wait for her brother to come back. She's sure he'll come back soon enough.

It's 2AM.

Umaru had no choice but to cook a meal for herself. Taihei did not return. At this rate Umaru might cry. He has not called Umaru yet or even informed her that he's going to be super late, nothing at all.

She was not going to wait for her big brother any longer. She's going to find him even in this rainy weather. Her brother's whereabouts is more important than being idle and doing nothing waiting for him to arrive.

Umaru grabs her bag and everything she needs before she walks to the front door, grabbing an umbrella and the keys as and wears her bag as she closes all the apartment lights and then walks outside, locking the door behind her.

Taihei has a spare key so Umaru doesn't need to leave the door unlocked. But just in case...

She visits Ebina for a minute. Just in case Taihei gets back and he forgot his key, she's sure Taihei will automatically ask Ebina-chan for help.

She walked down the stairs and walked to her close friend's door. She knocked first before listening in if she's awake or not.

...

Ebina opens the door just a bit to see who it is, but upon seeing Umaru she opens the door and looks at her best friend,

But this surprised Umaru more that Ebina is still awake.

"U-umaru Chan!" Said by Ebina following a soft and shy mutter as she wondered what's the purpose of Umaru's Chan visit to her door.

"Hey, Ebina-chan! I just wanna ask a favor."

"A f-favor? W-what is it?"

Umaru took a few seconds before speaking again.

"Can you check my apartment later? I'm going to go somewhere, and If you see my big brother, you can call me" Umaru said with concern trembling in her voice as she gives the key to Ebina, to make herself home inside their apartment.

"O-Oh sure, but where are you going??" Ebina asks with curiosity surrounding her, taking the key and putting it on her pockets as she looks back at Umaru.

Umaru doesn't want Ebina to be concerned as well so she lied and told her she was going to visit Kirie-chan.

Ebina doesn't know the reason why but she's on a promise now that she'll check her apartment later for Umaru's brother as Umaru gave her a good luck thumbs up before hurrying to the streets.

Umaru has been walking for an hour now.

Every possible place Taihei could go she has already searched.

She has visited his work place and was greeted by Bomber, she asked if he has seen her onii-chan but unfortunately the last time Takeshi saw him was hours ago.

Umaru sighs and thanks Takeshi anyway.

There were some problems but luckily Umaru managed to solve it.

Umaru stopped at a nearby bubble tea shop to take a rest from walking, she checked her phone if Ebina had called but no calls or messages yet.

The people around Umaru look at her, even in this horrible weather, the bright Umaru is still shining as ever, but inside, Umaru is more anxious than ever.

If she comes home and sees Taihei at home she would cry her eyes out till morning, because she was super worried about him. But she brushes off the possibility for now.

All she knows is that her big brother is still not home and not found by anyone yet.

If he's home right now, he would've called Umaru. She left a note for him to read at the front door, when he enters he won't miss it, including Ebina.

It's been for too long… Umaru might as well call the apartment to see if Taihei has come back already.

After a few calls, there was no one to pick it up, that also means Ebina is not inside the apartment right now.

She sighed as she thought about this.

Where would he have gone to?

and why didn't he message Umaru?

Umaru hears her phone ring and quickly picks it up.

"H-hello?? W-who is it??"

Umaru sighs and was kind of disappointed that it was Ebina but she must've heard the telephone ringing for too many times, so she decided to call back.

"Hey Ebina-chan! It's me, Umaru."

"O-Oh! Umaru-chan! W-what is it that you called??"

Umaru crossed her fingers and hoped once she asked her this question, he would be right there waiting for Umaru.

"Uhmm, so... has my brother come home yet?"

"Uhm, no, not yet. He's not here. I-I'm the only one inside your apartment..."

Umaru sighs, still no hope.

"I see... Well, thank you again for staying awake, Ebina-chan! I'll be home soon! There's food in the kitchen if you're hungry"

"U-u-hm! I-It's alright, Umaru-chan! I-I'm not hungry! B-but thank you for the permission..."

Umaru sighs as she thinks it's about time she goes home. She leaves a few ¥ on the table as a tip as she walks to the exit.

Umaru was about to leave the shop when suddenly she was again being called by Ebina, she assumed as she picked it up.

"Hello? What is it, Ebina-chan?"

"U-umaru-~~ I-I!"

Umaru heard Ebina's voice.

She's concerned, and frustrated.

"W-what's wrong?? What happened??"

"I-I... Umaru-chan-

"Hello?? Hello Ebina-cha-"

She looks at her phone as she tries to open it, but it has already died.

She forgot to charge it. She has no way of communication, so she decides to take the bus back home.

Umaru arrived at home and saw the apartment lights were on. Ebina must be in as she quickly rushes to her apartment door and she knocks on the door and it quickly opens.

She was greeted with a girl with tears. Umaru was surprised and worried and asked Ebina what was wrong, Ebina explained everything and Umaru's smile of comfort dropped when she heard what she said.

Umaru starts to get lost and perturbed, but eventually she quickly grabs his savings. He's been saving for something as she runs to the streets again. Ebina tries to calm her down but she is already gone.

Since Ebina is friends with Umaru and really close to Taihei she quickly turns the lights off inside of the doma apartment and locks it and returns to her own apartment to dress up and grab some things, locking her own apartment making sure she has the keys before following Umaru. 

Umaru was waiting for a bus again, she's very impatient now that she has figured out what happened to Taihei.

Ebina managed to catch up, running out of breath.

Umaru was wondering for a second on why she followed but she then realized she does have a kind of relationship with her big brother so she can't just tell Ebina to stay home with news like this.

So she decides to let her come.

"I-I'm sorry I have to be the breaker of bad news Umaru-Chan…"

Ebina said with a quite guilty voice of tremble and face, almost like she regret telling her the news, but Umaru just grabbed her shoulder which she looked at and was met with a small smile.

"D-don't worry, E-ebina Chan. I'm not mad, I'm actually glad you called me back to tell me this, if it wasn't for you, I wouldn't know where my brother is right now, I don't care what situation he is in right now, that doesn't scare me, I… I just wanna see him…"... Umaru lets go of Ebina's shoulders as she looks at the incoming bus, and hopes it's fast enough to arrive at their destination soon enough…
