Lu Peian put away his phone and asked Xu Li, "Do you want to buy anything else?"
Xu Li shook her head. The books she had bought for Meng Qingqing were almost complete. The magazine she wanted to buy herself was on the first floor, and the cashier was also on the first floor. She could just get the magazine when she went down later.
There was a central air conditioner in the bookstore. The wind blew from the top of her head and messed up Xu Li's hair. Xu Li placed the things in her hand on the table at the side and raised her hand to tie her hair into a bun.
"Well… I'll treat you to a cup of milk tea. Take it as thanks for your help yesterday." Xu Li pointed at the milk tea shop not far away.
"No need." Lu Peian shook his head. "It's nothing. I went to your house for dinner yesterday. Let me treat you to milk tea."
After paying the bill on the first floor, the two of them stood in front of the counter of the milk tea shop. When the only shop assistant saw them coming over, he placed his phone upside down on the counter and asked, "What do you want to drink?"
Lu Peian pushed the menu in front of Xu Li. Seeing this, Xu Li ordered a cup of black sugar milk tea that she liked. Lu Peian probably did not like milk tea, so he only asked for a cup of juice. After paying, Lu Peian glanced at the milk tea shop, found an empty table for two, and put down the test paper.
Only then did Xu Li remember that she had not bought a magazine. She put down the books she had bought for Meng Qingqing and stood up. "I'm going to buy a magazine."
Lu Peian nodded. He randomly picked a test paper, flipped to the last question, and began to work on it. Xu Li soon returned with a magazine. Lu Peian glanced at it and was a little surprised. He had thought that the magazine Xu Li wanted to buy would be of an entertainment nature. He did not expect it to be a medical weekly. He could not help but think of what Xu Li had said on the day of the school mobilization meeting. He took a few more glances at Xu Li, but he did not ask further. After all, the two of them were not familiar with each other.
After a while, the shop assistant sent their order over. After saying that they would enjoy their meal, he returned to the bar to continue playing games.
The milk tea shop was playing soothing music. The shop assistant put on his headphones and played with his phone with his head lowered. Xu Li was originally drinking milk tea and reading a magazine, but as she read, her gaze involuntarily fell on Lu Peian's hand. He lowered his head and held a pen. From time to time, he would write something on the test paper. The pen was pure black, making his hand even whiter.
Xu Li stared unblinkingly as she subconsciously bit the straw.
Lu Peian suddenly looked up. "What are you thinking about?"
Xu Li blurted out without thinking, "Such a beautiful hand. It's a pity to only use it for homework."
Lu Peian: "…" He was stunned for a moment. Then, he wanted to laugh and pursed his lips. "Then what do you think this hand should do?"
"Huh?" Xu Li also felt that her words were a little abrupt. She looked around and finally landed on the piano in the milk tea shop. She said, "Play the piano."
Lu Peian followed Xu Li's gaze. He paused for two seconds and put down the pen. "What do you want to hear?"
Xu Li said belatedly, "The Starry Sky."
Lu Peian nodded and got up. He walked to the piano, opened the lid, tested the sound, and started playing.
Xu Li rested her chin on her hand and looked at him. Lu Peian lowered his eyes, his expression serious, clean, and pure. She could not help but think that this kind of boy would be the ideal type for many girls, right? He had good grades, was polite, and could play the piano… She was so engrossed in her thoughts that she did not notice Lu Peian standing in front of her after the song ended.
"You almost bit off the straw," Lu Peian said with a smile.
Startled, Xu Li came back to her senses and realized that she had bitten the straw of her milk tea badly. She had a habit of biting the straw when drinking milk tea, especially when she was distracted, so she often broke the straw.
Lu Peian went to the counter and asked for another straw. Xu Li thanked him and inserted the straw into the milk teacup. Then, she turned a page of the magazine.
Xu Li was not a talkative person, and neither was Lu Peian. The two of them sat there, one reading a magazine and the other doing questions. They sat there peacefully for half a day.
At noon, Xu Li and Lu Peian had lunch together. Around three in the afternoon, Xu Li's phone rang. It was a call from Xu Baifu. "Li Li, I'm back. I brought you something. Go home after you're done playing."
Xu Li was stunned for a moment before she agreed and hung up. She stared at the magazine in her hand for a while, then pushed it in front of Lu Peian. "Help me keep it for two days. Thank you."
