A Faithful Resistance

During this chaos, one force had not yet made its move. The defenders of this city, the preachers of unity, the church of Luciel.

Treyah Tuldani, the first sight, is sitting on his knees in front of the main statue of Luciel. The depiction of the once goddess looks breathtaking, even in her devil form.

"Is this truly what you want? This chaos, this senseless bloodshed?" Treyah Tuldani asks out loud at the statue in front of him. He sounds like a broken man, having lost hope.

"I am not the oldest of beings in this realm. I am quite well aware of that. I can't really speak about the past ages. However, I was there during the last years of your reign. At the time, I was nothing more than a small twig struggling to live. I grew up during your reign, and I saw your fall." Treyah Tuldani continues to speak out loud in an earnest and vulnerable tone.

"This city wasn't a much better place than it was now. It was more like an unending battlefield with some houses than a city with multiple battles. You were angry at the world, and you took it out on us. Still, it was you who decided to grant us light. It was you who battled your sister for our existence."

"Am I wrong to think you cared once upon a time?"

Treyah Tuldani stands up, receiving no reply. It is time to act and not delay any longer. Entering one of the larger rooms in the back of the church, he looks toward some of his colleagues.

"Have Botwolf and Hudan returned yet?" Treyah Tuldani asks, already knowing the answer.

"No, but they will be here soon." A woman replies, wearing the same robes as the other sights. An intimidating aura surrounds her, probably helped by her large, intimidating wings.

"Can you sense them, Allatou?"

"I can, they will be here in a minute or so." The sight called Allatou replies in a relaxed tone.

The woman, called Allatou, is a dark skinned devil with polished copper sheep horns that are engraved with golden vines. Her long white hair looks at the top remarkably close to the highest quality of sheep fur, the length comes around her waist. Whilst she does wear a robe of being a priest, she does not look like it at all. The robe is lazily thrown on her back, showing a clear disinterest in anything church related. At the moment, she's eating some purple grapes, making a bored yet still refined figure.

"You haven't changed your mind, I'm guessing?" Treyah Tuldani asks in a somber tone.

"I have not, I will not fight Anima nor her troops."

"Even at the cost of this city?"

"I already betrayed her once when I told you her plan. I will not go any further. Besides, if this city does or does not fall, I don't really care." The harsh words do not match the sound of her voice, Allatou sounds eloquent even when condemning a city to its death.

"What about you, Ubel?" Treyah Tuldani asks the other sight in the room.

This other sight called Ubel is smaller in stature. His build is similar to that of Treyah Tuldani, the one major different being that he is constantly on fire. Unlike Idrilth's flame, these flames are outward and are so very aggressively.

"I will also not meddle, I rather return to the elder flames." The burning small tree ant replies, his deep voice accompanied by the sound of smoldering wood.

"As suspected." Treyah Tuldani replies, visibly disappointed.

"Our relationship is purely based on mutual benefit. Fighting in a full on invasion crosses the border, don't you think." Ubel replies, not amuse by Treyah's disappointment.

"I will remember this." Treyah responds with a clear threat to both of these sights.

The 2 other sights do not respond to this blatant threat. Either not willing to escalate the situation or simply not interested.

A minute passes by for 2 other figures to appear, the familiar figures of Hudan and Botwolf enter.

"Everyone's here except for Mosk." Ubel calls out, not appreciating his tardiness.

"Come out, Mosk. It's time." Treyah Tuldani says calmly.

Another robe figure enters, looking surprisingly human. His lack of a right eye and a jawbone are pretty recognizable characteristics.

"I must say, Mosk your style in appearances have deteriorated. Aren't changelings obsessed with beauty?" Allatou asks, genuinely confused.

"People are the most beautiful when they are determined to exceed themselves."

"And this vessel falls under that category?"

"Yes, it is a fellow named Maxmilian Consciension. A human "scientist" with quite the lofty ambition. His determination and passion for his craft has resonated within me." Mosk says in a theatrical tone, overselling the situation completely.

"A shame his face doesn't share the same sentiment." Allatou replies quickly, crushing Mosk's hope and dreams.

"Stop bickering, everyone is quite aware of our current situation. So let's not waste any more time, I vote to unleash the gargoyles." Treyah Tuldani says in a commanding tone.

"I don't think our opinion matter does it?" The deep voice of Ubel calls out the first sight's fake benevolence.

"It is not." Treyah Tuldani confirms.

Botwolf is the first to lay his hand on the large rune in the middle of the table. A dim red light appears out of his hand. Hudan Hakel follows the hunchbacked wolf devil and also puts his hand on the rune, the same red light also appears from his hand. The other sight except for Tuldani decide to do the same.

The last person to lay his hand on the rune will receive all the divine power of the others. Giving him the ability to unleash the gargoyles.

Treyah Tuldani's hand is now also put on top of the rune. The red light of all these people fill the rune. Only the red light that Treyah Tuldani has remains, and it has grown even brighter.

Ubel the eternally burning tree ant has already made its way out of the door. Not staying for even a second, his purpose here is done.

Allatou the beautiful dark skinned devil with sheep features also stands up and turns to leave.

"I do not care about your dream, first sight." She says harshly.

"…"

"Good luck." Allatou says before also disappearing from sight.
