Lu Jing Tian's POV

Although I had been holding onto this alpha position for 2 years but I could still sense that the elders don't respect me. It's just because I rejected one of their daughters. I want to wait for my mate because I believe he or she is somewhere out there. I wouldn't mind whether my mate is a man or a woman. The only thing I care about is that he or she will be the one who will be spending the rest of my life with. I started off my day as usual, checking if the guards were patrolling and are the criminals locked properly in the cells. As I was driving past Lang's University, I saw him. I don't know why every time I see him, there's these little butterflies in my stomach but he's not my mate. If he is, I would have known long ago. He is the next in the line of beta. I don't know for what reason that his dad is not allowing him to take over the beta position when he is already capable enough. I didn't realize that the light turned green until one of the guards came knocking on my car window.

Bai Yu's POV

Another day of going to university and I sense him. I didn't want him to know that he is my mate. I felt like it's too much for me to accept. I knew that he was my mate 3 years back. At that time, he just came back from Country B and it was during his welcoming ceremony that I found out about it. It was like a dream come true for me because I had been having a crush on him since young. I had never dared to look at him in his eyes because I scared that he would find out. Another reason is that I'm scared to date an Alpha due to the trauma when I was young. I really had unpleasant encounter with Alpha which made me unable to accept the fact that my mate is an Alpha. When I knew that he was my mate, I masked my scent with cologne as it was the best way for him not to detect me easily.

My good friend, Axton is the only person who knew about him. I know that I was supposed to take over my dad's position as beta but to avoid him I decided to say that I'm still grieving over the loss of my parents so that I could drag more time to avoid him. I really don't know how am I suppose to face him when I had already been avoiding for 3 years. I know that it sounds ridiculous to other people as how can one avoid their mate for 3 years when they're right beside them. I did my best because I just really don't want him ass my mate. I know that he doesn't mind whether his mate is a man or a woman because he is willing to love them for the rest of his life as a mate's connection is too strong to the point that when the other half dies, they would be drag down as well. He's, our alpha. If anything were to happen to him just because something happened to me, the pack would definitely be affected if they were to lose an alpha and beta at the same time.

"Hey Xiao Yu." Someone called me.

I turned around to see that it was Axton.

"What were you thinking?" Axton asked.

"Hey Ax. I was just thinking if I should take over the position of beta soon. Not sure how long will Max hold on to the workload. I will go and check out this afternoon at the pack house. Maybe it's time for me to take over the position." I spoke.

"I'll support whatever decision that you make Xiao Yu. You know that you need to be ready to face him. I don't want you to force yourself." Axton said.

"Yeah, I know. Thanks man. Let's get to the lecture. We'll be having our last paper next week. Are you ready to graduate?" I said.

"No man. I'm so lazy. My dad would definitely want to train me to be a warrior after graduation. I just want to take like two months break before going through all those tortures." Axton said while whining.

Sometimes, he's just like a whining little puppy even when we're going to graduate soon. I was planning to take over the position after my graduation. I feel bad for Max to handle the workload for me when he already had a lot in his hands as a gamma.

"No matter what we need to play our part to protect the pack as well. Your dad is right though." I said.

"I know man. Let's get to the lecture hall before we get reprimanded by the professor again." Max said trying to avoid me from lecturing him.

"Alright let's go." I said and start walking.

Surprisingly, the lecture ended quite early today. Probably because her paper is the last paper therefore, she believed that we would have sufficient time to revise her subject and do well in it.

Lu Jing Tian's POV

As I was working on my stack of papers that I need to get it done by today since the monthly pack meeting will be held tomorrow. I have to face the never-ending questions by the elders where they won't even be satisfied with the answers that I gave them. They were just trying to get me to just get a mate so that our pack to have a Luna by making me frustrated. Like whatever I do as an Alpha couldn't get recognition from them as long as I don't have a Luna by my side. I decided to take a break for lunch as I could smell the amazing smell of braised pork. I could guess who is making lunch today from the dish. I didn't expect my guessing to be wrong. I saw him again.

"Greetings Alpha." Bai Yu greeted me.

"It's ok no need for the greeting. You can just call me Jing Tian since you're going to be my beta." I said.

"Alright alpha. Sorry Jing Tian." Bai Yu said.

I nodded and proceed to get a piece of braised pork from the plate.

"Do you want to eat it with rice?" Bai Yu said.

"Yeah. Did you cook this? I will get the rice on my own." I said.

"Yup. I learnt how to cook this from my mom." Bai Yu said.

"Oh." I said and proceed to get a bowl of rice to continue my meal.

"Jing Tian, I'm planning to take over my job from Max after I graduate." Bai Yu said.

"Sure. Anything that is comfortable with you. I know that you're still getting over with what happened to your parents." I said giving assurance to him.

Bai Yu nodded and walk out of the kitchen. I couldn't help but felt giddy on the inside when he called me Jing Tian. I don't even know why he gave me that kind of feeling when he's not my mate.

Bai Yu's POV

I got scared when he walked into the kitchen. I didn't expect him to come down for lunch at this hour. I thought that he will be having a late lunch like Min said. I had to replace Min for cooking today because she's down with fever. It's been a while since she last fell sick. For werewolf, we rarely fall sick because our immune system is strong. Min has a weak body due to the torture from her old pack. Lucky for her that she found her mate in our pack which is my best friend, Axton. I'm glad that Min was able to control and handle Axton's childishness. I quickly left the kitchen to go home before the scent wears off and he realize something wrong with my scent. I really don't know how long I will be able to avoid him especially when I will be working alongside with him in three weeks. If he were to know that I was hiding from him while he was being pressurised by the elders to get a mate for himself so that there's a Luna to lead the pack, I could imagine how disappointed he would be.
