What Happened?!?!

Leo was as usual, lounging in bed watching anime, when he got bored he started on a new web novel, Release That Witch. "Its not my ideal book because it doesn't even have a system, at least it's got future gadgets in a world still in the stone age and is fun and all, so I'll give a try".

Later that morning, Leo had to sort out his one bed apartment. So he got dressed and did his morning routine. Had breakfast, did dishes and throw out the trash. While he was out he went to the store to get some necessities. On his way back home, he saw loads of people outside down the road and knew something was not right.

I ran home to see it was on fire, the whole top floor, where I lived, looked like it was in a fiery Hell. There were screams and sobbing everywhere. "What the hell?!? Did I leave something on? Damn it, it's my fault I need to do something at least!" Dropping my groceries, I ran inside to help the young and elderly get out of the building. The fire alarm was so loud my ears were ringing. At least the fire department has been notified and are on the way.

While inside one of the elderly couples apartment I managed to get a large dish towel and soak it in cold water to put on my mouth to stop the smoke, even for a little bit. I then made my way up the flight of stairs to see if everyone has made it outside yet. I only managed to get to two floors below mine, smoke was everywhere and my eyes were tearing like crazy. I was about to clear the last apartment when I heard sobbing which sounded like a girls coming from inside.

Leo had to shoulder barge the door (luckily it was an old building) as it was locked and the girl didn't open it yet. As he stumbled into what looked like the study room, Leo noticed a frail young girl stuck under fallen book case. The thing was huge, and seemed to be made out solid wood! Not the cheap and flimsy kind. "Just my luck..."

While spending most of my strength to lift the damn thing, I couldn't stop thinking, "Damn, I need a medal for all this. All I want to do is go to bed and continue reading my novels...". Knowing full well my bed, along with my entire apartment is probably turned to ash by now.

After freeing the young lady from the towering behemoth of a bookcase, I had to get another wet cloth for her mouth, then get her on my back and ran, or wobbled, down the flight of stairs as fast I could. Trying to keep the young girl calm, I started to talk to her and ask her questions that are easy to answer. I then knew her name to be Lucy, and her parents went away for the time being, that's why I never found anyone else there.

As we got outside, I noticed fire trucks and police everywhere. Firemen in high visibilty uniform ran up to us and took poor Lucy to give her an oxygen mask. I was also given an oxygen mask and on the way to an ambulence so sit down when on the top floor of the building exploded, with peices of glass and wood flying everwhere. The last thing I saw was a sharp flaming wooden stick flying out towards me. And of course, my last thought were " Ah, that looks like one of the legs of my bed..." right before it stabs me in the heart.
