"I'm So Sorry"

*Bang*(just imagine that is the sound of a tree being destroyed.)

"Aaah!" A scream escaped his mouth as he dodged to the right, the wolf immediately launching himself at the tree where the pair was just at, taking a chunk out of it in the process. Deus immediately began running full force down the mountain, continuing towards the city as the Blue Flame Wolf was recovering from the impact of hitting the tree.

He was pushing himself to the absolute limit, even at his young age, it was a widely known fact, especially to someone who grew up in the mountains surrounded by these monsters their whole life that someone without an awakened system could never outrun these wolves. Add on the fact that he was 6-years-old and carrying his 3-year-old sister with him, he could only look at his sister and hug her tightly as his tears poured out violently, no longer caring about concealing any noise as the wolf had already caught their scent.

Cassidy's crying getting ever so louder. Nothing could be done in his eyes to calm her down. In the next few seconds, their death was certain. However, he still ran holding onto any hope of escape.

"They should have been here by now! No! They should have been here long ago!" It was all weird to him, now that he was in the last moments of his life things had become clearer to him. "They aren't coming…" It would have taken 20 minutes at most for the hunters to come up the mountain, he didn't have a watch but it had felt like about 40 or more minutes had passed since he left the village, everything was probably all in flames now.

"Brrr"

His body soon was ridden in an ice-cold chill that penetrated his bones followed by a blazing heat that set him ablaze in a blue flame, his body was violently sent flying as he crashed into multiple bushes and got scraped by many trees before finally hitting one head-on. The wolf had caught up to him and launched himself into his body, his claw swiping his face. Crying could be heard from where he was just at as he looked down at his arms, she was gone, Cassidy was gone, his sister was gone. The crying got increasingly more violent as his eyes started drooping, the last sound he could hear was the sound of crying mixed with the sound of someone…eating?

"Oh, the hunters are finally here? Thank God…" Before his eyes finally shut.

"Ughhhh" As Deus came to, his memories of the moments before he passed out flooded his head, but he was happy, the hunters had come he could hear the sound of them eating. But why didn't they pick him up as well? Did they miss him since he had landed in a bush under a tree?

No worries though he could still hear the sound of eating, it was a known fact that hunters needed to eat more food than the average person since they needed to consume a lot more calories, so it wasn't unusual to hear the sound of food munching while with a hunter. That's why when he first heard the sound of munching he assumed the hunters had arrived.

He held onto the tree as he struggled to get up, using it as assistance.

"Hey, I'm over here." He tried to speak, but his voice came out as nothing but a rasp. So he stood up fully and turned around to where he was previously, weakly waving to the hun…ters?

He immediately keeled over and started throwing up, violently, to the point nothing came out anymore not even spit.

There were no hunters, his sister was not even there anymore, all that was there was a corpse, charred, missing parts, and currently being eaten by the same Blue Flame Wolf.

The wolf then turned and stared him in the eyes causing him to lose control of his bladder, peeing on himself. The wolf then ignored him and went back to eating who he knew was his little sister, she was no longer alive and he knew that, but in his eyes the body twitching made him think she was still alive.

His crying then turned into a defeated cry, that kind of cry that you have nothing left so only a silent strained whisper comes out.

"I'm sorry! Mom, I'm sorry! Dad, I'm sorry! Everyone in the village I'm sorry! Cassidy, I'm so sorry!"

The only thing he had been doing since the village had been attacked was apologizing, crying, and running. He had only one job and it was to protect his sister now he had turned away from her and ran.

He was tripping all over the place, falling into trees, and his body was becoming weaker…
