Unexpected Ascension

"What? Why can't I absorb mana anymore, what happened??"

Ray was confused due to the fact that he was unable to gather mana inside him anymore.

'This is...bad well there's no need to think about it now I have enough power with me to the point I'll instantly become the best student in the Fraux academy.'

Then something entered Ray's mind he was going to gamble his life just for this and as he thought about it he went back to visit Lance to see if he was awake as it was already dark when he couldn't gather anymore mana.

'What If...I tried to use Aura I'm technically gambling my life here but I need to keep getting stronger.'

Ray then wondered why he had the motivation to get stronger anyway.

"No there's no need for such thoughts! The reason I'm doing this is because I'm clinging to a single speck of hope that I can turn back time and go back to earth to save everyone."

Ray when he got back to the chief's house he went upstairs to check on Lance expecting him to still be unconscious.

"Master Ray?" Lance asked as he saw Ray come up the stairs.

"Lance you're already awake? That's surprising, look I have something to tell you-"

Lance then cut off what Ray was about to say.

"You want me to go back to the manor? Right?"

"So you knew, look it's not because you're holding me back it's just because I don't want any of my people to get hurt or even worse, die."

"But master Ray my duty is to protect you until we reach the academy."

"You think, I Ray Grandfell need someone's help?"

"Lance, I'm not asking you this is an order I want you to go back after you heal."

"But-"

"Go back." Ray said calmly

Lance accepted Ray's decision as it was for his and the others own safety anyway.

"S-sure I'll go back."

"Don't worry I already sent a letter to the patriarch."

Ray then hurriedly went back down and went to the carriage to try and use Aura.

"I should be able to hide my energy here, the entire empire already knows just how much of a genius I am if they figure out I'm a magic swordsman as well I'm sure there'll be trouble."

Ray then tried to mold the mana in his surroundings as he picked up a stick exactly the size of an average sword.

[Detected user attempting to fuse two energies, aura is being fused with magic, fusing successful new energy unlocked, Vetras.]

'Vetra? I've never heard of it before and why did it fuse magic and Aura does that mean I've had Aura the entire time?'

Ray curious as to what his new unknown energy was he tried using it as he felt like it could be used both in strengthening his body or equipment and also use it similarly to magic.

'Stars? But won't everyone notice something wrong.'

"So that means other people won't notice it."

'Anyway let me try this new energy, the system didn't say anything about the elements though so it's probably just the same.'

Ray then tried to coat the stick he was holding with his newfound Vetras energy and as a bright golden light pulsates from the stick blinding even Ray and making the fog around the carriage disappear instantly.

"This has a similar feel to Divine power but it's not quite like it it feels like a much more strengthened version of it, and it's fucking blinding me I need to control it."

Then as the light coming from the stick became dim Ray immediately tried to use Vetras as magic.

"Sun Ball!!" A version of Ray's sun then shot out of his hand but he expected it to be weaker than the "Sun" but completely out of his expectations it left a trail as it went on its path and partially destroyed a nearby forest.

"This...didn't just slightly strengthen it, it felt like another thing entirely!" Ray was glad to acquire this insane power but he also knew the effort he needed to do to control it.

'Now that I think about it making Lance go back to the manor was probably a mistake because that means I'll be the only one left in this carriage aside from both the warriors the chief gave me.'

Ray then hurriedly went back to where Lance was to take back his words and let Lance come with him but when he came back it was already too late.

"Did Lance already leave??" Ray asked the healer who was sitting in a wooden chair in the room where he and Lance healed.

"Well the young man said that he needed to hurry back to the Grandfell family but it wasn't long since he left."

Ray after hearing this immediately ran after him knowing that there's only one path back as he studied every single detail about this world and as Ray passed by the heavy fog he saw Lance in the distance walking silently.

"LANCE!"

Lance looked behind him and saw Ray running after him.

"Master Ray?" He said with a confused tone.

"Yep! I made a mistake If you leave now then no one will drive the carriage since the previous one got killed.

"He got killed??"

"Apparantly he got killed by one of Garld's henchmen."

"S-sure then I'll definitely give my best effort on aiding you and training so I can be of use to you." Lance stuttered as he surely thought that Ray won't want him back but was glad that he did.

Ray was relieved after hearing these words.

"Wait master ray, I feel another energy inside you could it be..."

'I knew he'd sense it instantly.'

"Yes I awakened my Aura."

"So you were a magic swordsman after all!!"

Lance said as he was delighted and shocked at Ray's words.

"Yes, and don't tell anyone and if someone senses it let them be I don't care if my power gets revealed."

Ray and Lance then went back to the village to bid their farewells.

"EVERYONE!! GOODBYE AND THANK YOU FOR YOUR HOSPITALITY." A familiar voice echoed throughout the village as all the villagers that were inside their house hurried out as they said their goodbyes to both Lance and Ray.

But soon Ray will regret leaving this place with no protection as someone hid in the shadows with the power to instantly destroy a small village such as this one.

"Hahahaha!!" A man's voice laughed hysterically.

'I dont know what it is but I have a bad feeling leaving this place with only a few soldiers but I specifically asked for 5th squad of the Iron Knights to come to this place so I shouldn't worry and they're probably already halfway here.'

Ray tried to calm himself as he was worried about the village and the villagers safety.

'I hope the iron knights arrive here fast.'

'No I have to stop thinking negatively.'

"Hey!!" Someone shouted as Ray was about to leave it was the two best warriors that the village chief ordered to accompany Ray.

'Oh we almost forgot them.'

And one of the men then got on the carriage and the other drove it.

'So one of them knows how to handle a horse? That's lucky.'

And as the 4 of them started their journey to the academy again they passed beautiful rivers with shining waters haunting forests and spectacular fields.

'The environment here is much better than that of earth's it's amazing.'

"Ray, do you want me to help you control your Aura?" Lance whispered.

"No, I'm good."

Now even though a magic swordsman is technically a mage it's also a knight and that makes it unique making it have it's own ranking System as well.

Magic swordsman ranking System(vetras version)

Sovereign- 4 constellations

Monarch- 3 constellations

God- 2 constellations

Demi God- 1 constellation

Grandmaster- 9 to 10 star

Archmaster- 7 to 8 star

Elite- 5 to 6 star

Advanced- 3 to 4 star

Beginner- 1 to 2 star

Everytime a Vetras user ascends by 1 star their entire stats get boosted by 100x and 1 constellations is equal to 10 stars.

'This Vetra power is really insane my body still hasn't gotten used to it but it was already that powerful!' Ray was extremely glad that his progress to discover the way back to earth and get his revenge was sped up.

'I'm not sure yet if I can even go back to Earth but my instinct tells me so.'

Ray even in his past life had insanely good instinct and insight even without the Heavenly eye it wasn't just his unique system that made him the strongest or his immortal blessing it was also because of his abnormaly high physical stats as well and his sharp senses before the doors even appeared.

'I think with this I've reached a high enough mastery in controlling mana that I can most likely use mana sense.'

Mana sense is something that mages with high enough mastery (not related to circles even if someone only has 1 circle if the have enough mastery on mana they can use this)

Giving them a sixth sense that combines all the 5 senses and creates an entirely new one more powerful than all five of the senses.

Ray then closed his eyes and scattered mana around him to "see" "feel" or "touch" things even if he was meters away from them.
