0 - Waking Up Inside A Hospital, Meeting A Lunatic.

☆ミ‌☆

After the seemingly endless darkness, deafening silence, and floating that never seemed to end, Elyx finally opened his unfocused eyes. Pain has attacked his body, and he is aching all over. The bright light blinded his vision, rendering him unable to see anything around him. He blinked several times, hoping to become accustomed to the blinding light. He tried to move his numb and boneless hands, but he couldn't move a single finger.

Every part of his body screams in pain, as if expressing its own excruciating agony. Seconds, minutes, and hours passed, and Elyx's mind finally regained a semblance of clarity, just enough for him to recall what had happened to him before he lost consciousness.

He was involved in an accident. A car accident in which his car malfunctioned, collided with the barrier, and fell into the ocean. Before everything went dark, Elyx remembered crying and uttering the names of his family, friends, and lover. Crying for his unlucky fate, he was certain at the time that he would never wake up again.

Elyx can finally confirm it to himself by looking at the white walls surrounding him, the obvious large hospital apparatus, and the constant yet slow ups and downs of his chest.

He'd made it. He was able to elude death's grasp in some way.

He wants to cry, to bawl away the fear he felt at those memories of breathing his last, but no tears flowed. A wave of exhaustion hit him and his frail body once more, and he found himself succumbing to the darkness for the second time.

When Elyx awoke, he was no longer alone. A female doctor with a benevolent aura stood beside his bed. She wears her hair in a ponytail and has a gentle smile on her face, which is visible in her big brown eyes. When she noticed him staring at her, her smile brightened even more.

If only Elyx could return the smile. Unfortunately, he still lacked the necessary strength to do so.

"Mr. Harries, how are you doing? Do you have any strange sensations? Could you please tell me if there is? Anyway, I'm glad you've awoken. It truly is a miracle. You've been in this hospital for two years, and despite being in a coma for so long, you've survived."

Elyx came to a halt, staring at the unfamiliar doctor. He desperately wants to say he is not Mr. Harries, nor is he related to him. His mouth, on the other hand, refused to cooperate. He locked his gaze on the doctor, hoping to convey his message; however, the doctor most likely misinterpreted his message as she opened her mouth to respond with entirely different matter.

Elyx could only deflate like a big balloon.

"You can address me as Doc. Rebecca, we have contacted your relatives as well as the person who has been caring for you for the past two years. I'm sure they're relieved you've awoken."

Checking all his vital signs and finding nothing wrong, Doc. Rebecca excused herself after a few minutes of examination. Elyx was all alone again, and silence reigned the small room enough for him to recall the female doctor's word by word.

Mr. Harries, two years of coma.

He tried hard thinking but ended up having a massive head-ache. He fell into a cycle of being unconscious and conscious, until the door of his small hospital room opened with a slam.

"I heard you had awoken. I didn't believe it at first, but looking at you now, it appears that both heaven and hell refused to take custody of you."

Elyx opened his eyes and blinked several times, feeling disoriented. When he saw an unfamiliar lad in front of him, what he quickly noticed, was the contemptuous look the stranger was giving him.

Elyx's eyebrow twitched. Great, just great. What a good first visitor to have. When you finally had your first visitor but it had to be a complete stranger with conspicuous loud and hot temper. Can anyone tell who's this goddamn rude visitor who's too merciless with patients? Does he even know this person?

The man's annoyance was heightened when he noticed Elyx staring at him blankly. "What? What's the point of staring at me and not saying anything? Cat got your tongue? What, are going to beg me to take you back again? Listen here, you ungrateful bastard. I've made enough sacrifices for you and yet..."

As Elyx focused on staring at the man's face, the man's words became blurred for him.

He's young and extremely attractive. His eyes are clear, revealing his frank and straightforward temperament, and he is the type of handsome who is vibrant and clearly shines. People like this in the entertainment industry are not uncommon, but they are pretty much sought after.

Why? Because people like them are easy to be noticed, and they can easily attract people; however, they also tend to attract issues from places to places. Having issues doesn't mean low income. Sometimes, the larger the issue, the more their company gains income.

Is this young lad, perhaps, a part of showbiz too?

Elyx licked his dry and cracked lips, blinking a few times before trying to open his mouth.

"...Ahm…"

"What? You finally opened your mouth you son of b*tch! I wonder why did the god even let you go, and didn't dump you straight into the last and deepest layer of hell! You bas—"

"T-Tone down your voice, please! Can you tell me who you are?"

When Elyx finally said something, the young man froze, and his clear black eyes widened visibly. He trembled, his gaze thunderous yet nervous locked on Elyx.

"...Wait a minute, what did you say?"

Elyx blinked, furrowing his brows.

"Ahm, t-tone down your voice?"

"Not that!"

Elyx gritted his teeth, wishing he had the strength to strangle this young man screaming infront of a frail patient. "I...said," he cleared his throat before continuing. "...Can you tell me who you are? Do...I know you?"

The young man's trembling became more intense, "N-No, this can't be happening, d-don't tell me..."

Elyx's pupils constricted. He noticed a lot of strange things after talking to the female doctor. And now, this attractive young man is behaving suspiciously in front of him. Is this guy insane or what? He was yelling at the top of his lungs like a lunatic.

After some time screaming, the lad finally regained some of his sanity. He glared at Elyx, repeating the exact same words, "You bastard!" over and over again. Watching him pace around the room made Elyx even more dizzy as he already was, so he averted his gaze away from the man. As much as he enjoys seeing the man's good looks, his brain is still in a mush after being in an unconscious and conscious state alternately. Elyx almost rolled his eyes, thinking. Boy, you've been calling me unpleasant names, be careful I might sue you.

This hottie appears to have lost his shit. Is he insane? What a shame. He has a very attractive face, and he would do well in show business.

Out of a sudden, he shrilled and brightened like a light bulb, as if he just realized the most appropriate action. "That's correct! The doctor! I need to call the doctor!"

Took you long enough, Elyx sneered, almost failing to stop himself chuckling on the outside. The young lad then madly pressed the bell to call the nurses and the doctor.

"Hey!" Elyx shouted, trying to catch the young and handsome lunatic's attention. "You haven't answered me. Who are you? What's our relationship?"

"...Me?"

"Of course, who else?"

The handsome madman came to a halt, staring at Elyx's eyes for a few seconds, as if looking for deception. Somehow, Elyx saw a flash of bashful, though it quickly disappeared like how fast it appeared. He slowly clenched his fists and replied in a low, solemn tone.

"My name is Aashray[¹], and I'm your boyfriend!"

Silence prevailed, before a twisted expression appeared on Elyx's face. With an unbelievable expression on his face, he screamed.

"Excuse me? What sh*t are you spouting now?"

The pretty boy's face turned pale, then red, and finally green. Elyx was blown away by this collection of expressions.

"What are you talking about? Y-You don't think I'm telling the truth?" Aashray[¹], the pretty boy, stood up straight and took two steps away from Elyx.

The latter couldn't take it anymore as he rolled his eyes, "Obviously, duh. I have a lover. His name is—"

He wasn't able to finish his sentence when the door of his room opened, revealing Doc. Rebecca and a nurse following from behind.

She was quite panicked, "What happened? I thought there's an emergency with those loud and chaos-inducing noise!"

"He doesn't remember me! He must have had amnesia!" Aashray[¹] said, pointing to Elyx.

Doc. Rebecca then shifted her gaze to Elyx, who shrugged. "I don't have amnesia; I remember pretty much everything about myself; I just don't recognize him." After a few seconds of catching his breath, he added, "Doc, have you called my relatives? My parents?"

Aashray's eyes twitched, and his sharp glare almost poked a hole in Elyx, but it went unnoticed by the latter male. Doc. Rebecca motioned to the nurse standing behind her.

"Could you please tell me your name?" She questioned, exposing her pearl white teeths.

"Elyx Ysmael."

Silence won the room, but a few seconds, both the nurse, Doc Rebecca, and Aashray yelled at the top of their lungs with "What?!", each and everyone with entirely different intonation with their voice.

A complicated look flitted on everyone's face except Elyx's. Their gaze became more complicated while Aashray's become even more twisted.

"What Elyx Ysmael! Your name is Rem! Rem Harries, you lunatic! How funny of you to even claim a superstar's name! Stop making jokes, bastard! It isn't funny..."

"I'm not joking, though. I'm being serious here." He countered as his lips formed into a frown. Again with that name. Who's exactly this Rem Harries?
