Shit hits the fan

So...I'm back! I told you all I wouldn't drop, so rejoice!

Sadly updates will be slow, as I have a tough workload, but I will be posting at least 1 chapter a week, so you have that to look forward too.

Anyway enough of that, Lets get onto the story!

=====

{Recap: Dragon took August, Liam and Sabo on Survival Island. He showcased them Haki, then in typical Dragon fashion left them to survive on there own.}

As the crowd of bloodthirsty monsters closed in on them, the 3 teenagers slowly retreated until their backs were facing each other. They needed to act.

"We need to work together." August spoke first, activating his powers as his skin gained a yellow hue.

"I agree. Since we don't have bloated egos, it won't take us 5 near death experiences to realise it." Sabo japed, and despite the severity of the situation they shared a chuckle.

"DODGE!" The ground trembled, and a second later it was swallowed whole as a massive pair of gaping jaws consumed the terrain they previously stood on.

"Liam, our 6!" glancing behind him, Liam saw a group of armoured birds flying towards them.

"HOW DOES A SWORDSMAN HAVE THE ONLY RANGED ATTACK." Liam complained as he waved his sword.

The air around his sword distorted, the pure amount of force turning the attack into a crimson blade of air that sliced through the wings of the airborne animals.

August looked below, gaining a grim expression as the animals used each other as platforms and slowly climbed their way to them.

August thrusted his foot, sending an enhanced kick to one of the animals. Purple blood sprayed on his feet, and August tched in annoyance.

"We need to get out of here!" Sabo looked around, and his eyes gained a glint in them as he spotted a small dent in the ground.

He looked at August and Liam and said, "Follow me!"

Sabo kicked the air and August followed suit, carrying Liam in one of his hands.

August and Liam sent Sabo confused looks as they landed not even 20 metres away from their current position. The massive horde of hungry monsters still continued to advance on them, growing closer by the second.

Sabo found it in himself to laugh, "Just trust me."

He shaped his hands to look like a claw and tensed his muscles. Looking at the cracked ground, he grinned and said, "Dragon Claw Fist!"

His fingers thrust into the ground, causing a spider web of cracks to form from the point of impact. The cracks quickly expanded, venturing outwards in the direction of their attackers.

"Flow!" He pushed in an extra amount of force, and that was all it took for the entire ground to crack and fall apart, creating a wipe gaping abyss below the animals.

A plethora of screams and cries sounded in the air as the large horde of animals fell into the pit created by Sabo.

Sabo took pleasure in the shocked faces Liam and August had, but he had no time to relish in it.

"Come on! That won't hold them for too long, we need to leave!" Sabo took off, Liam and August following shortly behind him.

As they ran alongside each other, Liam broke the silence.

"So…What do you all suggest we do?" Asked Liam, looking towards his 2 friends.

Sabo shrugged, looking to August. He knew that the moment Dragon left August had already begun concatenating a plan in his mind, so he would trust him.

"There's strength in numbers, that's obvious. Combine that with our teamwork and it's almost guaranteed we will survive on this…Island, but that isn't the objective." August paused for a moment, deciding his next words carefully.

"Repeating Dragon's words, if we want to learn this mysterious 'Haki' and become the strongest people on this Island then we need to do this alone. Only through tough battles can this power awaken and advance, that's what he said. Although it pains me to say it, we need to be separated." August finished explaining in a sad tone, looking slightly guilty.

"You're right." Sabo clenched his fists, "We can't half ass this. With high risk comes high reward, and if we put our life on the line multiple times, then maybe we can learn and improve this power."

Liam nodded his head and said, "I have a feeling this power we need to learn is important, that it's essential if we want to reach the top."

August smiled at his friend's determination.

'I'm glad they understand.'

He held out his fist towards Liam and Sabo.

"Looks like i'll see you on the other side." He looked at some of the animals they would be facing in the distance. They had a long future ahead of them.

"If you get hurt, hurt them back. If you get killed…walk it off."

=====

After Liam and Sabo went their own way, August immediately got to work. First he needed to find a place with clean and sustainable water as well as a safe place to sleep. He also needed a fire for cooking any meat he obtained.

Unlike the animals on this Island who evolved to allow them to eat raw meat, August's human body wouldn't be able to stomach it.

Making his way through the sandy terrain, August went east when the group dispersed. He needed to fulfil his objectives, and fast as by nightfall he would be screwed.

He made his way past kilometres of terrain before the usual dry terrain showed any signs of change.

"There!" A luscious colour of green assaulted his eyes, giving him an immense amount of joy. There was a forest in the distance.

*BOOM*

His excitement was short lived, as his face wrinkled and changed from an ecstatic smile to a deep frown.

Out of the ground came a massive grotesque looking purple centipede. The ground twisted and snapped even more as more of the Centipedes elongated body shot out of the ground.

August's face dropped in horror, 'How can an animal be so big.'

He rapidly blinked under the shadow of the beast, not believing what was in front of him was real.

[Think of Centichoro from OPM without the weird face]

'Looks like Dragon was right. Those animals from before survived by using their smarts and working in groups, but these are the true monsters of this Island.'

"REEEEEEEEEEEEE" the Centipede screeched loudly, revealing it's sharp fangs as it's snake-like form charged at August.

A large beam of purple goo erupted from the Centipede's mouth. August deployed Shatter barrier to try and stop it, but the sheer force of the attack cut through it like it was butter.

"Shit!" His skin cackled yellow as he barely managed to dodge the strange attack.

He looked at the floor, and saw that the purple substance let out a hissing sound as it ate through the floor.

Sweat dripped from his forehead, if he was one millisecond slower, he would be dead.

The Centipede charged again, twisting it's serpentine body in layers of flesh in an attempt to trap August.

It repeated the deadly attack, opening it's wide mouth even farther as a larger quantity of poison left it.

August darted his head around nervously, he had nowhere to go…but up.

He let his body go limp, twisted it around in various angles as he moved around the poison and shot up towards the Centipede's face.

*BAM*

The sheer force of the attack sent the Centipede sprawling back. Like dominos, parts of his body fell one by one, creating a large shockwave from the huge impact.

'So that was it's weakness? High attack but low defence, it's just like a video…'

His thoughts ceased, looking at the Centipede who had just gotten up. It didn't even look hurt, just more pissed off.

The centipede stayed silent in his rage and threw it's massive tail towards August. He swung his tail, creating tornados of air as August met the attack with his fist.

"Arghhh!"

August was sent flying backwards and into the ground, the pure power of the attack catching him off guard.

'It's not just the weight of the attack that made it strong. The tail was rock solid, and it moved like water, there was also no wasted movements in that attack.'

It was then that August realised he wasn't just fighting a bloodthirsty beast he was fighting, it was a terrifying animal with a brain hardwired for battle.

August gritted his teeth, healing the purple bruises and cracked bones on his knuckles. He felt his stamina drop a level, but he paid it no mind.

'If my fists can't pierce it's armour, then I need to use something else…' He was about to shatter the air and conjure a weapon, but realised it would be futile against an enemy of this caliber. He needed something sharper, something with substance.

'What about…' He held his hand out, pushing his fingers together as thick amounts of shatter energy converged on his hand. He let it expand, freely controlling the energy and shaping it out to be like a sword.

Although he couldn't see the energy, he could feel it. He felt the thick distortions in the air as he moved his hand around, this was just what he needed.

'This should be enough.' He eyed the part he planned to cut, the place directly under the Centipedes head.

Putting his arms to the side, he ran towards the annoyed Centipede who spat out another glob of poison.

August jumped over the attack, kicking the air in rapid succession until he was finally eye level with the animal.

He moved to close the distance, but stopped in his tracks once he saw what his opponent was doing.

The Centipede swung and flailed it's large tail around, creating layers of defence which prevented August from closing distance.

Despite the situation, August remained calm.

'I just need to look for an opening, think like Sabo…' He narrowed his eyes, trying to search for an opening or weakness. The attacks were wild and desperate, but the Centipede's large body helped him in that regard.

'There!' His eyes shot open, and his small frame danced through hurdle after hurdle until he was right where he wanted to be.

*SPLURT*

His sword sliced through the Centipede like butter, spraying purple blood everywhere. August momentarily retreated, dodging the blood that sprayed out of the wound.

August stayed in a fighting stance, preparing for the possibility of the monster getting up again. After a few seconds of no movement, he deemed it safe to move closer.

He stabbed the Centipede again just for some extra reassurance, and after that he finally allowed himself to rest.

"Hahh…Hahh…Hahh" The adrenaline slowly wore off, and August realised the severity of the situation. If he was just one bit slower or slightly weaker he would be dead and the Centipedes next meal.

"I really need a rest…" As the words left his mouth, a loud roar echoed in the distance.

"I just happened to open my mouth, didn't I?" He reluctantly sat up, getting ready for his second back to back fight of the day.
