6 Old friend

I take a deep breath when I saw her. Today I had gone to get the clothes that Jav had ordered for me. I saw my best friend from my past life. It seems that destiny was smiling down on me now. First, I found Davy and now I have met Lin, it made me recall a memory from my past life.

*Flashback*

I sat there at the cafe thinking about Davy after I finished eating I went back home. On my way, I texted Lindsey my best friend from high school to come over to my house so we could talk. I ask one of the maids to prepare some orange juice for Lindsey and a pineapple one for me.

When I reach my room I throw myself on the bed and contemplate how my day has gone so far. I remove my phone from my purse and open friendzar an app that is used to connect with people it works similar to WhatsApp and finds my account flooding with messages.

I check and find that most of them are from my friends in America as they're checking up on me. I reply to most of them and tell them that I am fine and ask them to visit me sometime In the future. Just as I was about to close the app then I receive a message notification and click on it.

'Hi, Val.' It read from an unknown number.

I ignore it since I have no idea who it was that texted me and exit the app. I put my phone on the table and connect it to a charger before taking a bath. I walk into the bathroom which is painted blue and has three showers, one huge bathtub, and a toilet. I walk to the bathtub and turn on the hot water and keep it running while I strip myself of any clothes and jewelry I had on. I turn off the water and pour the soap into the tub before I immerse myself completely into the water. I soak myself in the water for quite some time while my thoughts run wild thinking of Davy

I awaken by the knocking on my bathroom door. I close my eyes open them slowly to get used to the light in the room. The door is pushed open and the person enters the room while scolding goodness knows who since I couldn't hear a word. I recover from the shock of having someone barge into my bathroom without prior warning when that someone pokes my shoulder with her finger.

"Val, are you even listening to me ?" She asks me and that is when I look at her and realize that the idiot who dared to barge into my bathroom while I was bathing was none other than my very own best friend Lindsey.

"What the hell Lin, I could have had a heart attack."

"Like that would ever happen drama queen." She hands me a towel which I wrap around me and walks out of the tub. I go into my wardrobe and pick one of the dresses I bought today to wear. It is a short black off-shoulder dress with a bow on the waist that reaches just above my knees. I don't wear any jewelry since I don't plan on going anywhere, I let my hair loose on my shoulders and apply some light makeup.

I return to my room to find Lindsey seated on my bed while hugging the cute teddy bear that I got from Davy back when we were in school. I walk to the bed and sit next to her. The minute I sit down she pulls me into a tight hug that lasts for five minutes before she pulls backs and lays down on the bed facing the ceiling. I too lay down on the bed imitating her.

"I missed you a lot," she says still looking at the ceiling. "I was almost coming to America just to see you," she added. I roll my eyes at her, how can she call me a drama queen when she says such cheesy lines.

"What drama dialogue did you hear that cheesy line from."

"From that soap opera we used to follow 'Moments of weakness' and that line is not cheesy it's romantic."

"So are you flirting with me?" I tease her.

"While of course beautiful as you know I am quite the romantic if I were to say so myself. So it will be in your best interest to accept my courtship and not play hard to get."

"How can I not play hard to get when so many people are courting me so you better up your game or you might lose me to someone else."

The room goes silent for a few minutes before we start laughing. How I missed having such moments with my best friend for six whole years.

"On a serious note I have something to tell you," she turns around to look at me so I know that I have her attention.

"I received a marriage proposal from Davy's family asking me if I would accept to marry him," I say and watch as her expression turns from curiosity to shock.

I shake her by the shoulders so that I can at least find out what she thinks of what I just told her. Then she pulls me into yet another tight hug. I receive the hug and hug her back which was a mistake.  Because the minute I placed my head on her shoulder the idiot screamed to the top of her voice into my right ear.

"Jesus Lin, are you trying to kill me today ?"

"Why didn't you tell me you are going to get married to the hottest man that you have had a crush on," she screams again how am I the dramatic one.

"I just did, "I answer her in a bored tone cause I am. Three times today she has almost given me a heart attack.

"Well when did the proposal come?" she asks and I can tell she is eagerly waiting for the scoop.

"My father told me about it yesterday night, Davy's grandma called and asked if I would agree to marry his grandson."

"And what did you say?"

"What do you think I said."

"Omg," she screams again, can someone tell me how and where this girl gets the stamina to scream so much.

"Can you stop screaming?"I ask knowing she can't."If you keep screaming like that my mom will come up here to see what's going on and you know how that will go." That should get her not to scream again.

Lindsey and my mom have never gotten along with each other as my mother doesn't like the fact that she is from a middle-class family. She also doesn't like Lin's unladylike behavior so every time she comes over my mother always looks for an opportunity to degrade her. Although she might have gotten used to it by now no one likes to get into an argument when it can be avoided, at least I don't.

Lin's mood drops when I mention my mother cause she doesn't like her but I don't mind it much for the feeling is mutual between them.

"Guess who I ran into today when I went shopping," I say trying to change the subject.

"Davy."

"I wish I had run into him but no, I ran into that she-devil from high school."

"Viviane Romero?"

"Yes."

"I heard that she came back from Italy three years ago but I haven't seen her much since high school because we have different social circles. I also heard rumors that she may be in a relationship with Davy. I don't know if it's true cause like I said different social circles."

"Yea, I also read a similar thing when I researched him but I will only be able to confirm it if I talk to Davy and ask him about it."

"Wait you haven't talked to Davy!" I nod as a confirmation that indeed I haven't spoken to him." If the two of you are going to get married how come you haven't spoken to each other?"

"I don't have his number and I haven't had the chance to ask my dad for it."

And just like that Lin and I spend hours in my room talking and enjoying the juice I asked the maid to make for us. We talk about many things from Davy to the weather and also compared life in America and life in the country R. After some time we decided to binge-watch our favorite TV show 'my better half' which stars Christina Castillio a former classmate in high school.

You must be wondering how come all our former classmates are famous in the country. Well, it's quite simple as the Valentine family is the second most powerful and influential family in the country. Surely it is expected that I went to fancy school for children of the rich families in the country hence the famous people who are now running most parts of the country. And yes, Lin is not rich but she was able to attend the same school as me due to the scholarship she received cause she is super smart.

Chastain highschool is the most prestigious school in the whole country. Whereby everyone wishes to attend but only very few can as it is known to produce most of the country's elite. It was founded by the country's richest so that their children and their children would have a place to study that is worthy of their status. And every year they give thirty scholarships to the less fortunate as they call them.

"Did you hear about the reunion?" Lin asks me drawing me back from my thoughts.

"What reunion?"I ask her completely clueless about what she is talking about.

"Chastain high school is holding a reunion for the alumni of our time."

"No, I didn't know that so when is it?"

"In two weeks but before that our teacher miss. Camila is holding a class reunion in two days for all the members of our class. There is a group account that has been created on friendzar where the details of both reunions are being discussed. If you would like then I will ask Patrick to add you to the group as he is the groups' admin."

"I would like that and wait did you say Patrick as in Patrick Salver, as in your long-time crush."

"Yes and no. Yes, it is the same Patrick and no I have never crushed on him."

"Right," I say with a bit of sarcasm cause who is she kidding she couldn't fool me I mean I wouldn't be her best friend if I didn't know this right.

"Anyway let me text him now. You should probably open your friendzar account and accept the request in case he sends it now."

"Okay I will do that right now, "I reach for my phone on the table and unplug it from the charger. I unlock it and open the app while I wait for the request. I see a notification and click on it and find a message from the unknown number earlier.

'It doesn't cost a dime to answer one's greetings, dear Val.'

*End of flashback*

Staring at her I felt the need to go to her and talk to her but I held back. She doesn't know me and probably won't feel comfortable if I go to her. I walk past her with a heavy heart and go to the counter.

"Valeria Valentine's order please," I said and waited as she went to get me the clothes.

"Here you go," she said and handed me the bag.

"Thank you," I said and turned around to leave. "We will meet each other again, if our friendship is destined then we will be friends in this life too," I whispered and left the shop.
